Summary: Buy this book
Review: A really good reason to buy this book is that it's the only one (AFAIK) that covers EJB 1.1. The book is excellent. The writing is good, the examples are easy to follow, and its complete (The 50 page Transactions chapter alone is worth the price of the entire book!). I liked the first edition, the second is even better.

Summary: Simply the best - Period
Review: This book contains concise explanations of things I've rummaged hours through other materials to find and/or understand, with good code examples, and insights into things you just don't find on your own. My most satisfying EJB book purchase to date.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best EJB Book available today
Review: This was the one of the first books on Enterprise JavaBeans that I bought. I have since bought other books, but none of them came close to the depth of content and the quality of examples presented in this book. If you are a Java developer looking for the perfect EJB resource then this book is for you.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: I have only read the first few chapters of this book, but I think its fantastic. The layout and organization are very well done. Diagrams are very easy to follow and are a great help in understanding the topics. I especially love the fact that besides teaching how to develop EJBs, the authors also explains the concepts of distributed computing. Its well worth the money.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: This is my second book on EJB and now I realize that it should have been the first. This book is outstanding! The author does a great job of introducing all the aspects of EJB and implementing EJB solutions. Developers should pay special attention to Chapter 9 ('Design Strategies'). It will make a big difference in the solutions you build. The author (Richard Monson-Haefel) is also very responsive. I asked a question from his web site (ejbNOW.com) and he answered me the next day. Great support!

Summary: The best book on EJB
Review: There is no doubt that this is one of the best books out there. But, you have to have some experience with Java before you start reading it. There are plenty of other good resources for that. As far as Enterprise JavaBeans is concerned, this is the best book on the subject. It covers entity and session beans, transactions, the XML deployment descriptors, and a little J2EE. It also has really helpful appendixes that give you state diagrams and charts for handling exceptions.

Summary: Easy to read and very deep
Review: I picked this book up at a conference and finished it in three days! It made things like distributed objects and CTMs make sense to even a novice like me. I learned the deepest details about EJB, without getting lost or experiencing any painful side affects. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Excellent book
Review: I have the 1st and 2nd edition of this book and they are both excellent. I used the 1st to learn EJB and I'm reading the 2nd to learn about the new version.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great for learning EJB
Review: This is a great book. I've been teaching an EJB 1.1 course for about 3 months from the specification, but after reading this book I've improved my class a lot. It's full of helpful design tips and explains things that are unclear in Sun's specification. I recommended this book to all my students and to anyone learning EJB.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best Java book I've ever read!
Review: I have read a lot of Java books, but this is probably the best one I have ever read. It's clear and easy to read with excellent examples (not to long or short) and perfectly paced. It's also on EJB 1.1! Everyone on my development team used the first edition on our project and we will continue with this second edition now that's its available.
