Summary: This book saved my life as a new Sys Admin
Review: This book was a real life saver for me. I was a new SysAdmin, right out of school. This book's clear and concise instruction allowed me to move forward when the online documentation had me stumped. Kudos to the author.

Summary: Excellent for AIX system details.....
Review: An excellent books for beginner Sys Admins. Chapters are arranged for easy reference and should be useful to any novice user having "root" authority:-)...

Summary: Excellent general reference for both beginners and experts!
Review: I am constantly referring to this book to help me solve a UNIX problem or refresh my memory on a routine task. Great cross-platform coverage. I highly recommend this book to both beginners and experts. If you only have room in your library for one UNIX book, this is it!

Summary: Good book
Review: This is a great book for info. But it should better be organized to cover more indepth of Solaris. It skins the surface on some topics. Overall, it has the most info than any other books that I can find.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great for beginning SysAdmins
Review: Discusses most of the essential aspects of System Administrating in easy to understand, not filled with technical jargon language. Helps to grasp most of the topics and gives great possibility to start investigating some aspect of UNIX System Administrating

Summary: Great Reference Book
Review: I bought this book wanting more on the theory of administration, what I got was more of a reference book. As a reference, this box is great - it has everything you'll need - from adding disks, to dialing in and out /w getty. As a bonus, unlike some books, this one contains a lot of examples for Linux too (all the screenshots are done on a Linux box).

While it's not what I wanted, it's still worth every penny I paid for it.

Summary: One of the best sysadmin books around
Review: This book should be on every sysadmin's bookshelf. Better yet, it is so well-written and useful that you will find it never on your shelf but next to your terminal or in your hands for years to come.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent book
Review: I bought this book and a book specifically on System V. Nine time out of ten the solution was in this general purpose book and not in the System V book (which turned out to be really disappointing). Plus I administer three flavours of Unix (HP-UX, Solaris and Linux) which are all covered by this suprising book. A real find.

Summary: Perfect Beginning
Review:

A great book for novice system administrators and system administrators that looks his/hers way through different versions of Unix.

For more in depth knowledge, there are better, more specific books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is a book to have in your collection for S.A.'s
Review: If you are a Systems Admin for UNIX and need a book to help with your development, this book is for you. Essentials cover many different flavors and gives a nice description and comparison to different functions and commands. It will come in handy.
