Summary: Excellent Book !! Real examples of Flash MX 2004 Pro
Review: This book is a really good investment for everybody who wants to go deep into Flash MX 2004 Pro. Nate included real examples, with really good information. You need some good coffe at nigths to follow each exercise but at the end the investment time is worthly. 3 kind of applications for 3 kind of servers... amazing example of a really good book, ( If you find some bugs Nate give you quicky answer.... Just be carefull with the Access database configuration ).

Summary: Finally .. A Flash Book for Developers ... About Time ....
Review: This book is awesome! I've been developing CF applications for a few years and wanted to learn how to integrate with Flash. Problem was that most Flash books either leave out integrating with a database, OR assume the user knows how to use Actionscript and Flash. this book assumes neither and easily and clearly walks through WORKING examples in CF, .NET, and Java ... it's easy to see why CF is the preferred method. Geeks, you know who you are ... this is the book that will show you what you need to know to work with those artist types. If only macromedia included the content of this book in their lackluster documentation.
Thank you Nate!
Between CFMX WACK and this book .. you are so set. Bow down to Nate Weiss for his righteousness in writing this book. I'm gonna ceremonially burn the other, less complete books that I bought before finding this one. It is, as the kids say, the bomb.
A deal at twice the price ... if you can only afford 1 Flash/Data Integration book .. this is the one.
To those that didn't like this book ... do you smoke rock?
what part of "excellent book" don't you understand?

Summary: Book for the Tweener
Review: This book is for the "tweener." Someone who is capable of doing server side scripting (like ASP, CF, PHP or one of the many others) and developing dynamic Flash movies. "Huh, still fuzzy on a tweener? Here is the football analogy." David Boston of the San Diego Chargers is a "tweener"; big enough to play tight end or defensive end and fast and skilled enough to play wide receiver. As a receiver he is force to be reckoned with, so is a Flash developer with skills to script on the server side.
This book will help the "tweener" take the next step (become a force to reckon with) or even take a scripter or Flasher and make a "tweener" out of them. For those of you out there experienced in dynamic Flash development with server side communication and Remoting this book may be a good transition piece when moving to MX 2004.
This book has a good chapter on ActionScript, material on Remoting and an introduction to the three MX 2004 components you will use for server side processing. For the intermediate and novice Flash developer this book will be a good resource and for server side scripters this book can help you use Flash as your presentation layer in lieu of html. The structure of the material is easy to go through and the examples are rather good so I think you will have a good experience with this book and be able to take aspects out of it and use them in your next set of projects.
