Review: CHAPTER OVERVIEW:Chapter 1 introduces SMS Installer and its features. It provides a list of the benefits for using SMS Installer to repackage applications for small and mass distribution. Chapter 2 defines the system requires for running SMS Installer, explains the files that are installed by the product, and walks through a standard SMS Installer installation and its options that are presented. Chapter 3 walks through repackaging an application to be used for distribution. It also provides explanations for several distribution methods. Chapter 4 provides detailed reference for all the features of the Installation Expert interface. These references will help understand how to customize an installation before it is distributed. Chapter 5 provides a detailed reference for all the Script Actions of the Script Editor. It includes descriptions of all the features and also provides an example for using each Script Action. Review: I can't believe this book is out of print already! This book stands the test of time. I just got my copy (from one of the used booksellers, sadly) and it rocks! For anyone who has not picked this book up yet, HURRY! Using this book, I have already completed two software packages I had given up on.

Review: I finally got my hands on this book. Man this thing rocks! I am the defacto SMS guy for a 900 seat entreprise and this book has become my bible. There is nothing else like it for Installer. I am using it right now to write a package to set an agency wide ODBC value. This is a book by the foremost authority on the product...if you use SMS Installer buy this now!

Review: I've been waiting and waiting for another print of this book. I was pleasantly surprised to find its back when I was searching through Amazon.com. Other SMS Admins I know have raved about this book for years, and I've never been able to get my hands on a copy, because its always sold out at the local stores. Glad to see that its in another printing. Digging into it the first day, I'm already using the product to distribute my own custom packages.

Review: Its about time a book came out that actually shows how to script with sms installer. There are about 15 books out about sms and this is the first one to actually have anything to do with scripting, I guess 4 years is a better wait than never...

Review: Rod Trent has created a great book that details the 'not soo much talked about' world of scripting with SMS installer. Since reading this book and testing some of the 200 scripts made available on the CD I would have to say I have packaged up some applications that I was going to have to give up on. This is a great book to read and allows you to appreciate the extent of utilisation that SMS installer really can have. Great work Rod, keep up the great work...

Summary: Great guide to the Installer
Review: Rod's book fills a gap in the SMS world with his fine coverage of the SMS Installer tool. I both train and consult with SMS, and my students and clients have often lamented that more info about SMS Installer was not available. I have been recommending Rod's book to them for some time now, and all who have read it have thanked me for the recommendation. It's clearly written with practical examples for creating, writing and customizing scripts, and I highly recommend it to you as well.
