Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK. Best book used so far! Review: This is an excellent book. I have several certifications, and using this book I have passed this exam more easily than with any other book/exam combination. Coverage of material is excellent. Hats off to the publisher and authors on this one.
Rating: Summary: Good Security Basics/Topics not covered we enough to pass.. Review: This was a good entry-level book for getting a good grasp with basic security concepts. However, I found that it fell short in addressing most of the detailed security topics that were presented to me on the Security+ exam. This book was inadequate for my taste. I found the Microsoft Security+ book much more acceptable as a practical preparation guide. Save your money. If you want to pass, buy the Microsoft Security+ book.
Rating: Summary: Good Basics. But, not enough info to pass Security+! Review: While this book does a good job covering the basic topics that are covered in ComPTIAs Security+ Objectives, it does not go into enough detail about the subject matter needed to acheive a passing score on the real Security+ Exam. For final preperation I found two other books that helped me to get my Security+ Certification. They were: The Mike Myers Security+ Passport(Which was written by Trever Kay) and The Security+ Exam Guide ISBN#1584502517
Rating: Summary: The worst-written technical book I've read Review: You may need to make a deal with the devil and buy this book, since it covers the material on the exam (and I liked it better than the even worse All-In-One guide with the gold hardcover). But it is terribly written. Ideas are presented so confusingly that you can usually recognize what the authors are trying to say _if_ you already understand it. Really awful.
