Rating: Summary: Another gem from Jim Buyens Review: This is my 3rd Buyens book. Anymore, I look forward to his works. This is a must read for any serious FrontPage web site developer. What I *really* like, however, is the electronic version of the book (on CD) with the bonus chapters. It's very convenient to be able to read the book on my computer as I work through the lessons. Especially on my laptop. Casual FrontPage users might find this book a little much, but it would still be a great reference. I can honestly say that the things I've learned from Jim's books have helped me to become a Registered Web Presence Developer for Microsoft® FrontPage®. Thanks, Jim!A. Rating: Summary: excellent resource Review: This is my first reference when looking for info. It is thorough, easy to understand and has almost everything on FrontPage that a beginner to medium/advanced designer would need.
Rating: Summary: Not for the novice Review: This is not a book for the web page "faint of heart." I used Front Page 2000 online tutorial to create a simple site and loved it so I orded FP 2002 and this bbok and went to work. Well... I tried to go to work. This book is so disorganized and uses so much advanced lingo that I was lost in the first chapter. Near the end of the book, he covers topics that would have been helpful in the beginning. It's poorly indexed, leading you to pages that don't cover the topis you're looking for. I would not recommend this to sanyone new to web page design. Hire a pro - it's worth the money to avoid the frustraion. In the meantime, learn enough of FP to update the page yourself.
Rating: Summary: Comprehensive, yet not Overly Technical Review: Times have changed. In the olden days, like many others, I knew the effect I wanted to achieve and could delegate the implementation. Today, that delegation often remains with me. Make no mistake; it is easier to delegate than do. That is where this book fits in. It provides an overview of the most-used features and functions of Microsoft's popular Website creation and management program. The book provides the information advanced users really need uncluttered by content written for novices. It is comprehensive, yet not overly technical. The book covers a lot of detail. I often feel that solving a problem is like completing a crossword puzzle. Topics in the book are scattered between the text and a CD. So despite the inconvenience, you have to look at book and then flip to the CD. Other books may offer simpler answers. If you desire complete control over your web site design and management, this book is the complete answer. Save yourself some aggravation. Bundle your purchase of FrontPage 2002 with this book. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Hard to use Review: Topics in this book are scattered between the text and a CD. Some of the stuff on the CD is critical, so you have to look at both, a nuisance. Also, topics are really only itemized (like a dictionary (not organized logically). So to do anything (like speaking the language with only a dictionary, and not a phrase book) requires a lot of (i)thinking, (ii) page turning and (iii) CD spinning.
Rating: Summary: Absolute must for Front Page.. if you must use Front Page Review: While I absolutely loathe the Front Page program (it's too restrictive, too bland, and too boring) this book is an absolute must if you're stuck using the program (like me). While I'd much rather use Dreamweaver to make creative, intuitive sites, Front Page is good for creating the basic, the bland, and the boring. This book will show you how to push Front Page to its rather too-defined limits and will help you to get the most out of this limited program that you can. The layout and information provided within are great for both beginners and advanced users. It is easy to find what you're looking for when you're looking for it and, best yet, where you expect to find it.
