Rating: Summary: Good information but.... Review: I thought this book had good information but found it hard to read. I switched to Syngress study guide and found that book easy to read with plenty of good information to prepare you for the exam.
Rating: Summary: Good Book!! Review: Is a good book. You can find most of topics well covered and they are explaining in a good way, easy way. Of course, nobody can pass any test using one book. You must use others resources like cramsessions and Transcenders! And yes, why not...Troytec Study guides too, but just for a quick review. I dont give 5 star 'cause the "review questions", for me, are not so difficult. Authors must make more difficult question and more similar to "real test".
Rating: Summary: Just say no Review: This book is a waste if you are going for the exam. It does nothing more than tell you click here and point there. It is totally superficial. It should be called how to get around in Windows 2000 professional. I cannot find any in depth explanations on such topics as RIS, compression, driver signing, sysprep, etc. All of this is on the exam. All most none of the discussion on these and many other topics will help you with the exam. I used the Exam Notes for NT 4.0 exams and they were useful, but this one seems to have been rushed to print without knowledge of the exam.
Rating: Summary: Not really and exam prep book Review: This is a great book if you just want to learn about Windows 2000 - however it is definitely NOT an exam preparation book. It is like they have never even sat the exam. In the introduction they mention that this book is for people who already have a feel for Windows 2000 and this book would get your prepared - that is totally wrong. I can't recommend any other books - but perhaps pick up the Trancender cds - also don't forget to make sure you are up to speed with networking concepts - dns, dhcp, active directory etc.
Rating: Summary: This exam notes book is the best yet! Review: Windows 2000 Professional Exam Notes is definitely the best exam notes book that I have ever read. Matthew Sheltz is a great new addition to the James Chellis team. This book is extremely readable, and conveys a ton of useful information in a really concise manner. The "key terms and concepts" and "sample questions" sum up the information in a way that makes studying a breeze! Thanks to this book I have no doubt that I will pass the Professional Exam. If you are interested in taking this test, puchasing this book will be the best $24.99 you have ever spent! 5 STARS!
Rating: Summary: Best study guides. New edition adds better questions. Review: Working with several different study guides in our training center, we've concluded that the Sybex series of study guides is the best on the market. Some students complained that the first editions didn't have adequate questions. Sybex made some big changes for this edition and now the questions pretty much hit the mark. This book has many such questions, including an adaptive exam and select and place questions, and it has Palm OS flashcards which are also a good way to quickly brush up on the details you need to know for the exam. The CD also contains WinSims, as Sybex calls them. They are basically step-by-step videos (avi files) of how to do the exercises in the book, with a few interactive examples thrown in (we use these as supplements to our classroom instruction, suggesting that students review certain videos on topics we don't have time to cover.) The videos are a great way to actually see what the exercises explain. Like any book dealing with the new MCSE track, you can't just read the text and pass the exam. That just doesn't work any more (back to reality, folks.) Students have to put in their time working with Win2k (although working on the WinSims is a realistic substitute for many things.) Overall, excellent set of books, and definitely much better than the MSPress books and, as a whole package, better than Osbourne's.
