Rating: Summary: New Students Review: This text is a good introductory text for students who have little computer background. The first chapters introduce students to basic concepts with end of chapter questions which help students apply learning. The end of chapter questions for chapter seven were not supported by text instruction. Hints for instructors: Review the text and look for minor glitches - these will need to be corrected by direct instruction.

Rating: Summary: The book makes it easy to understand Review: This text will defintely help the reader understand the principles of an operating system. It is designed as a textbook, and in that sense I feel that it oversimplifies some things.Overall, though, I feel it is an excellent book to use to start learning about operating systems (to get the concepts correct in your mind) before you move on to more technical and detail oriented texts.
