Rating: Summary: FINALLY, A BOOK THAT REALLY TEACHES & IT'S EASY Review: I'VE PURCHASED A LOT OF BOOKS TO TEACH ME COMPUTER PROGRAMS. THIS ONE MAKES IT EASY TO LEARN "OFFICE 2000" WITHOUT PAIN OR FRUSTRATION. IT'S USER FRIENDLY WITH LOTS OF PICTURES, LABELS AND EASY STEPS TO FOLLOW. IT'S A WINNER, BUT DON'T LET YOUR FRIENDS BORROW IT!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Series Review: If you can't learn MS Office 2000 or XP using the Shelly Cashman series I believe you will never learn using another series. These books help me tremendously to become Master Certified in Office 2000. I'm also in the process of becoming Master Certified in XP using the Shelly Cashman series. When MS Office 11 comes out later this year I will invest in that series also.
Rating: Summary: Great Book just skip the first chapters about computers!!! Review: The book is great but it is written for people who never had experience with computers. So I would advise anyone to skip those intial chapters. I highly recommend getting the spiral bound edition because the book is about the size of a major city's Yellow Pages and it is easier to handle.
The screen-by-screen instruction is terrific but of course, I ignore directions such as (open window, hit save, etc..). The lessons at the end of each project allow you to perform the lessons that you just learned. I would advise that you download the lessons on your computer instead of to a disk like the book recommends. Since I was just laid off, the book is great for brushing up on programs that you don't really use on a daily basis. I am planning to get the advanced versions of the book very soon.
Rating: Summary: Big Price and Well Worth It Review: This a great book to use when learning Office 2000. It's easy to understand and has lots of screen pictures and labels to help you on your way. The instructions are clear and can help even the true beginner learn each program with the least possible discomfort and frustration.

I guarantee that even if you use a computer daily at work or school you will still learn many new tricks and shortcuts from this book. Rating: Summary: Microsoft Office 2000 Review: This book is quite useful especially for those who is self-directed. You will find it informative and put you at ease. You can follow step-by-step instructions and learn a lot from this book.
Rating: Summary: fantastic Review: This is my favorite book for learning Office 2000. It starts with a brief section on computers and a brief section on Windows, then continues with sections on Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The sections on these application programs have sample projects that guide you with clear instructions and color illustrations. In the process of doing the projects, you learn specific skills. A very nice feature is an appendix at the end of the book that lists the skills required for Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification, and what page in the book each skill is shown. For further study, there is an Advanced version of this book, and also a Post-Advanced version. The Shelly Cashman series also has numerous books on a wide variety of computer related topics. In addition to the Shelly Cashman series, Course Technology has two other series that I like: the New Perspectives series, and the Illustrated series. Other related series that I like include Ruth Maran's Simplified series and Teach Yourself Visually series. And there is always Microsoft Press: I like the Step-by-Step series and the Running Series.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Series Review: You could have better information provided by illiterate people who have never used a computer. The way this book explains how to a simple action, leads you to believe you are breaking the code for DNA. I would not recommend this book to anyone serious about learning MS Office. You would be better off just clicking around aimlessly in the programs themselves. I myself unfortunately have to use this book to pass the course my college is giving. We going to petition my college not use this for this course again. Sorry, but this how not to learn MS Office save your money for a "Office for Dummies" book.
