Rating: Summary: A must read for any IT professional Review: Chapter 3 alone makes it worth the price. It makes a great case for having a corporate security policy and gives you a great starting point for creating your own policy. The writing is clear and the examples are useful.

Rating: Summary: Missing pages (Chapter 16 and 17) Review: Do not buy that book, if you expect to find some information about auditing Oracle database or hacker proofing, as it can happen that this pages are simply missing in the book. So if you are lucky, that didn't happen in my case, the pages from 487 to 533 will not be missing. Otherwise the book is fine, and if Oracle Press was more carefull with printing and assembling the book, it might earn some stars more.It can help you to learn enough to secure your Oracle environment, but if you want to set the audit function and to track the hacker attempts in practice, you had to look for another source, if the chapters in a book are not there. Check the shipment immediately and return the book if it is defective.
Rating: Summary: Great, meaty security reference handbook Review: Easy reading with much substance and meat to the writing. Major releases are delineated as to their security features which is important to those of us not on Oracle's latest bleeding-edge beta-software release. Our government project is too important to risk on Oracle's beta-software, especially in the security access areas. Marlene Theriault's and Aaron Newman's security handbook helps provide a large measure of clarity and confidence with our implementation of security, in spite of Oracle and especially in light of 11 Sept 2001.I expect to continually use this Oracle Security Handbook as a prime reference source for information and implementation guidance. Thanks to Marlene and Aaron for all of their efforts.
Rating: Summary: Great book, immediately useful Review: I used this book to help compose a list of security risks and countermeasure for Oracle databases. I not only found many items for my list, I also increased my knowledge of the Oracle architecture, specifically regarding security. The authors cover how the components work together and with other items in modern enterprises, especially the information technology infrastructure. There's major information on securing the operating system, the database, and networks, plus loads of information about what should go into a security plan, policies, and procedures.
Rating: Summary: More Missing Pages Review: Like a previous reviewer, I also had pages missing from my book. The pages were not torn out, the book was just defectively bound at the factory. Pages 485 thru 532 were missing. I bought the book used and luckily the seller refunded my money. Be careful with this book, there must still be a lot of them with missing pages in warehouses.
