Summary: A necessity for any ISA Server administrator
Review: Its so often that you get a new software package, install it quickly and never really get to learn the depths of what the product can really do. This book goes into great detail and shows it in a manner that doesn't confuse or put you to sleep. Running and configuring ISA just got easier.

Summary: MUCH Better
Review: This book is hands-down superior to the Simmons book (I have both). Chapter 1 alone has more technical details and depth than the entire Simmons book.

If you're trying to decide which one to buy, GET THIS ONE !

Summary: Good Book
Review: This is a great book for real world situations. It will be a great reference book. I would recommend using it as a companion to any study guide you get if you use to study for a test. Again real world is the key use for this book.

Summary: DO NOT BUY ANOTHER ISA BOOK!!!!
Review: This is an awesome technical book. The author always gets right to the point, and all of the information is valuable. There are some technical books I have read that seemed like they were written by someone who read other technical books about the product. NOT this ONE. Unlike other authors, you get the feeling that this guy known everything about this product, and has used it ALOT.

I also like how the author doesnt seem to hold back on his opinion. It is the only technical book I have ever read that had the guts to say that Windows 2000 will run just fine on an AMD processor.

This is one of the best technical books I have purchased on ANY subject.

Summary: Configuring firewall for windows.
Review: Well i think this book explains everything there is to know about ISA server. Configuring an ISA was always pain in the neck though, i gotta admit though before i've finished this book, reconfiguring an ISA server took me much longer, now i do it within 2 hours. I like this book, though i think author could make it much shorter, i don't think some one actually cares where ISA server got from and the history of it's design, but again that's only my opinion. It has a DVD with it i think, i never went through it or anything, so i wouldn't know what's on it. This book can teach you how to make a proxy, a gateway and or a firewall out of ISA server. (That's what it's about though)

Summary: This book rocks
Review: What can I say. This book rocks. I was totally new to ISA. But not new to the Microsoft world. (I have MCSE). But where so many books fall over, is that they give you so much junk info when all you need is the facts. This book got straight to the point. I flick over the pages. Then the next day I went in and installed. I had my server running with exchange, intranet, and internet by the end of the day. I could spend another 2 days reading and be ready to sit my MCSE exam. This is the best tech book I have ever read in my life. well done --Hawk EYE--

Summary: Superb from First to Last!!
Review: When buying this, I was in the position of having to learn it quickly so that I could hit the ground running with my new job.
This book certainly does this. Giving precise explanations of every aspect of isa server, included undocumented knowledge that is also very useful!
Every aspect is drilled in time and time again so that by the end, it cant fail to have stuck.
A must read for anyone wanting to know the nuts and bolts of ISA Server.

Summary: Repetitive (repetitive) and simplistic at times
Review: With a better editor, this book could have been about 300 pages instead of 900+. I found that the author repeats information over and over. There was a lot of Microsoft marketing-speak--does any of this really need to make it into a book? We also get gems of wisdom like "The speed at which a computer can process data depends on the speed of its microprocessor" (p115).

Apart from these criticisms, the book is a reasonably good resource. A definite step above Microsoft's opaque documentation. But it could be so much better.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Book for a beginner!!
Review: Without formal training, reading the book was enable me to setup and configure an ISA firewall from scratch! I loved this book and I think it was a very professional book. Get it today!!!
