Summary: Very comprehensive coverage, easy to read
Review: I couldn't afford Photoshop, so I got Photoshop Elements, and was sure I'd be unable to do alot of the stuff I'd seen done with Photoshop at work. Not so! This book showed me that Elements is a great product, and really powerful. The book is well-organized, easy to read, gets right to the point (but has plenty of details and info), and has great examples, with a good mix of "family" pictures and more professional work, so everyone should feel represented here as far as the kind of pictures you're working with or creating. If you have Elements and aren't sure you're really getting into everything it has to offer, this book is for you.

Summary: Elements is cheap, but not simple. This book is esssential.
Review: I figured that with Elements costing under $100, it would be really simple to learn on my own, but unlike the reviewer who said you can figure stuff out just by using the program, I was stumped by several of the features. I got the Elements Bible because it seemed like the most thorough coverage (judging by the index and teh table of contents) and it was. It was also enjoyable to read, and it gave me good ideas in the color section. If you want to learn Elements, get this book.

Summary: For a 'bible' this is far less than expected!
Review: If you expect to find some cool effects and ideas for your graphic projects, you will have to look elsewhere. This is just a basic tutorial describing Photoshop Elements menu features, which, of course, anyone can figure out by simply using the program.

Summary: Now I know what I'm doing!
Review: Photoshop Elements pricetag made me believe it would be a very simple program and I'd have no problem teaching myself to use it. While it is a very "user-friendly" program, I was confused by several of the tools and really felt like I was just scratching the surface with what I was able to figure out by myself. So I got a book. After looking at a bunch of other books, picked Laurie Ulrich's Elements Bible, and now I really get it and feel like I know what I'm doing. I'm using all the tools, playing with filters, designing really sharp stuff for our company website and I'm even teaching people in my department how to use Elements. It would have taken me months of frustration to figure this all out on my own, but with this book, I've really gotten up to speed fast. The book reads like the author is talking TO you, not AT you, and the examples are great, and the art in the glossy section gave me a lot of good ideas. Get this book if you really want to get all there is out of Elements and have fun learning about it.

Summary: a Bible that's really comprehensive and useful
Review: The same way I expected Photoshop Elements to be a very light version of Photoshop, I wasnt sure what to expect from a book about it that had the title "Bible", because the Photoshop bible has holes in it and seems light on some topics. THIS Bible on the other hand, about Elements, is really comprehensive and the author seems to have complete knowledge of the software, not just parts of it. I have been pleasantly surprised by Elements and this book has helped me tackle the software and get going really quickly. The book is also in a really good order in that the topics are covered in logical order and the complexity builds as the book moves on. Some books hop around and the writers don't seem to know how to show someone how to use something, they just dump their knowledge on you in no reasonable order. This book is great, and I have learned way more than I expected to and the book is a pleasure to read. It's not dull or dry, and the color section has given me good ideas for stuff to do with my own photos.
