Summary: Think Twice Before Purchasing...
Review: I purchased this book last week and I've had trouble getting involved with the book. You build a real-world web site with the book but you don't really Flash that much! I am brand-spankin new to Flash and I am ready to learn all about it but this book is not the answer. The book is more text than it is step-by-step directions and graphics. Please think twice before purchasing this book!

Summary: Not happy.
Review: I was really excited to receive this book because I was anxious to get learning Flash.From the start a storm cloud developed over my head and frustration set in. Chapters 1-4 (about 1/4th of the book) aren't even about learning Flash. They include things like "why use flash" and "what's new?"... well its a "From Scratch" book so it's not really important, most people reading it are rookies. Chapter 4 is a weakly put togther project management chapter that is obvious just page filler. I skipped that chapter all togther, it was insulting. When you get to the actual substance of the book you find it very hard to read. Exercise steps should be bulleted or atleast bolded so they are easy to pick out. In this book they not always like this. Some are numbered, but you can miss key steps that are just mixed in with a paragraph. The "Real Life Webpage" that we design get's boring after the first chapter. I wish I could stress to all authors that diversity in the books make them a lot more enjoyable to read and learn.

Summary: Thorough and enlightening book, one of the best on Flash!
Review: This was a wonderful book for me as I am just beginning to use Flash. I have tried other Flash books and just could not quite understand how to use Flash and integrate it into in my work. I found Flash 5 from Scratch to be very step by step in its instruction and loved the way every new chapter built upon concepts and techniques covered in other chapters. The Web site you create is simple in design but the progression to build it really helps you learn about Flash and how to use it in Web design.
