Summary: A worthwhile concept well explained
Review: I really enjoyed the Quickbook and have recommended it countless times. Of course, access to the online survey and development of my own personal EQ profile have helped me to transform this book into a genuinely practical, enduring experience. I highly recommend this book.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Where do you get your information?
Review: Although this book is easy to read, the original book, Emotional Intelligence, by the creator, Daniel Goleman, Ph.D., provides the same information. I much prefer Dr. Goleman's book.

Summary: Less than ideal
Review: The concept of the book is unfortunately as questionable as the content of the book in my read. The core "vision" of the book apparently is that we "are" -- or are destined by fate to become -- no more than the sum total of a test score; the very proprietary test that the authors have designed no less. This is a terribly unscientific and potentially self-defeating concept. Moreover, the core thesis here simply does not withstand the test of scutinty proven over and over in the real world. Namely, people are not limited in what they aqccomplish by the total on any "test." Einstein didn't even finish the 5th grade; what might his "EQ" test have revealed? Would the authors have instructed Einstein that he was destined to fail and therefore, tell him not to bother wasting time in the exploration of science? My take on the book is that everyone born with anything less than an ideal high "EQ" (as if everyone hasn't been programmed enough with measurments of "IQ," may as well just pack in in, roll up into a ball and...die. Fortunately, most readers are too well-informed to blindly subscribe to the "your destiny is determined by your EQ" concept as proposed in this book. I for one found it a tool that seemed more consistent with promoting "EQ" seminars than an instrument of edification that I would apply in my business.

Summary: Good enough to get me to write a review!
Review: I've never reviewed a book before on Amazon, but I just had to after reading this one. It really put into perspective for me something I've always known but never had a term for. Namely, intellect and experience are what get people into jobs, but emotional intelligence is what makes them star performers. I just think this book is a great find, even for those who work in technical professions. It's very straightforward and easy to read, yet the scientific basis for what it teaches is refreshing. It literally changed my life at work and at home!

Summary: Interesting and Fun!
Review: I read this book on a cross-country flight and found that I couldn't put it down. The way it was written was very easy to understand and I really feel that I can apply the concepts in the book to relationships in and outside of work. Can't wait for the next book from these authors!

Summary: Amazing!
Review: The Quickbook is the most useful book I have read in quite a while. The authors use interesting anecdotes, research and more importantly real strategies I can apply to better myself. Since finishing this book, I find myself using their techniques in everyday life with great success.

Summary: Self-Awareness is important
Review: This book was not written to debunk the importance of IQ, but rather to explore the other side of humanity that we often overlook-emotionality. I believe this book has some sound insights into the conflict between what popular society has deemed most valuable and what in reality is most significant: the recognition of what evolution has given us as a species, which are our primal instincts, emotions, and how we can utilize our cognitive abilities to practice self control and awareness.

Summary: Seminal
Review: It is scary how true this book is! A must for anyone who relates to other people often.

Summary: Smooth and interesting
Review: What a great book! Very addicting. I finished the whole thing in a single evening. I couldn't go to bed until I was done. 5 stars for sure.

Summary: Best seller that earned it
Review: This book is a best seller for good reason. It is a very pleasurable and easy read that will certainly set off light bulbs in your head. If you are an executive, manager, or entrepreneur, make sure you grab this book and take it to the beach or knock it out over a weekend. It certainly belongs in your library.
