Rating: Summary: Excellent tips Review: I found this book to be very thorough from cover to cover on the Linux+ topics. It was very easy to understand. There are tons of tips and suggestions that really helped me out on the real exam (I did not find such accurate tips in some of the other Linux+ study guides I have), just for that I give this book 5 stars!. Check out Trevor's Server+ Bible Study guide as well.
Rating: Summary: Beginning to end Fantastic Review: I just took the Comptia Linux+ exam and passed! On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being easy and 10 being hard) I would give the Linux+ exam a 6. The Linux+ Certification Bible from top to bottom is a very excellent resource for this exam.If you are new to Linux and want to get this certification under your belt, I recommend this book because it covers each of the exam objective one after the other throughout the book. The CD-ROM that comes with the book has some free Linux programs on it and a test engine with tons of practice exam questions.
Rating: Summary: It will get you certified! Review: I passed May 6th, I used this book as my main study guide. This book takes you from being a beginner Linux user to an Intermediate level by the end. Everything you need to know for the exam is in the book. The CD-ROM comes with a bunch of Linux and Windows programs and a 300 practice question test engine, that is used in Windows that I found excellent. I now use this book for a reference at work, I recommend this book to new and intermediate Linux users and for anyone who wants to become Linux+ certified.
Rating: Summary: In order to pass Review: I passed the exam, but only because I've been in the field for a while and knew quite a bit of this already. This book really didn't help very much. The actual exam questions were totally unrelated to this book. It is good for someone wishing to learn Linux from step one, but this book is far out of touch with the exam.
Rating: Summary: Very Complete, More then Enough Review: I passed the Linux+ exam with no problems from using this book. I recommend reading the book cover to cover first then go back a second time and focus on the sections the Author recommends. These new Certification Bible series books are very very good compared to the other study books out there. Check it out for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Self Study Book Review: I recently passed the Linux+ exam self studying using this book. It covers all the basis of the exam, with good pictures and to the point explanations. The author Trevor Kay has done a great job at keeping each topic simple to understand (I was a newbie at Linux when I started studying). I am confident that you will pass this exam if you take the time to study this book thoroughly.
Rating: Summary: Don't use this book alone Review: I studied this book from beginning to end. There are more than some typos and mistakes even on the answers. I took the exam today, none of the questions were on the test. The material covered in this book is about 60% of what is on the actual exam. Don't use this as your only source.
Rating: Summary: The perfect stepping stone Review: I took and passed the Linux+ exam with ease by using this book. The Linux+ exam is a perfect stepping stone if your interested in understanding the fundamentals of Linux or if your are interested in pursuing a RHCE or higher end Linux certification. The Linux+ Bible was awesome! Linux+ is a very good certification to get your feet when starting your Linux career. Dale Miller - I.T. Professional
Rating: Summary: Beginner Friendly:) Review: I was a newbie in Linux and needed a book that walked me through everything clearly. This was the book for me. I have my A+, Network+, Server+ and now Linux+. I needed to have a Linux cert under my belt since Linux is now being implemented in most companies. The Linux+ certification was the path I decided on. The Linux+ Certification Bible was perfect for me. It taught me how to choose a distro, and how to install, Configure and Administer a Linux system. It was excellent! Once you have those topics under your belt you will be able to fly through the Linux+ exam. I did:)
Rating: Summary: Helped me pass Review: I would like to tell everyone that I passed the Linux+ exam today! The Linux+ Bible was excellent, and helped me tremendously. The book walks you through every exam objective that makes the learning process much easier. Now that I have my Linux+ I am going for my RHCE!
