Rating: Summary: Great First Book Review: I purchased this book based on the reviews I read here. It is definitely an excellent basic book for grasping concepts and for future reference. The visualization makes for a quick read with easier retention. It was a little slow to start with very basic concepts covered but was very good value for the money with topics covered beyond the everyday basics. I followed this book up with Microsoft Frontpage 2000 Unleashed which was the right choice. I recently visited a large bookstore chain to see if there were other books on the market that might fill in any of the gaps of these two books. I went away without anything further and reassured myself that these were the best choices to have been made.
Rating: Summary: Serves its' purpose Review: I would give this book a 3 star because it didn't teach me all the other advanced topic such as ASP, XML, JAVA Script, Web Database and how to use Applets in your webpage etc. But, the reason I bought this book is to take my first step in learning how to create a web page using FrontPage 2000. I did not expect much of the advanced stuff from it. Since I bought this book as a newbie it does a good job of introducing me to FP2000 and some of the features you can use, I gave it a 5 star. I recommend this book to anyone who, never used FP2000 or created a website. This book if filled with pictures to help you visualize what you're doing and where exactly you need to be (as you follow the steps). After using this book, I was able to create a simple website with pictures, sound, video and other cool features using DHTML. All that by reading half the book. It was very easy!!! The visual aids are so helpfull that you don't need to read the text most of the time. This book didn't give an in-depth details on how to tweak the features it describes, just enought so that you can use it, they leave all that to your imagination and to the advanced books. They do demonstrate why you should use some of the features and the sufficient steps on how to use them, (i.e why should you use frames or tables etc.) which is appreciated for beginners. Tonight, I'll read the other half to learn how to create forms (guest books or a feedback page) and also learn how to upload my page to the web for other people to see.
Rating: Summary: This is the book to use Review: If you want to learn frontpage 2000, and want to learn fast, visually, and also have a good time, this is the book. There is a reason why eveyone gives this book 5 stars. Frontpage 2000 is fun, plus you don't have to hear all about your <root web> or anything else you really are not interested in. Purchase this fine book and enjoy web publishing.
Rating: Summary: A great introduction to FrontPage2000 Review: If you're a new user to FrontPage2000, I highly recommend this book. It guides you through the essentials of designing a web page and even takes you a few steps further in a few areas of web design. Although, you will want other resources as your experience increases, this is a great "first" book to start with.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book is a great tool for beginners. I also, would recommend all "Teach youself Visually..." books if you are ever in need of informative computer books.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic starter book Review: This is the best book you can buy if you want to become familiar with FrontPage 2000 very quickly. I knew virtually nothing about the program when I purchased this book, and I have learned enough from it to become a proficient user of the program both at home and in my occupation. The book takes only three or four days to get through, less if you are already familiar with other Microsoft office applications, such as Word and Excel. The screenshots and color-coded instructions on every page make this book very easy to understand and apply, and though it is very basic in spots (it outlines, step by step, how to save a page, for example) it does cover everything the beginning to intermediate user needs to know in order to use the program effectively. The only way this book might be better is if it included a tutorial CD, as many other instructional books of this kind do. Other than that, however, I recommend this book very highly, and I will be returning to the teach yourself visually books in the future, having found this one to deliver on its advertised promise: read less, learn more.
