Review: I first got this book because one of my favorite websites recommends it. I got up and running pretty fast. The book made the learning curve pretty easy to ride. The only "negative" thing I have to say is that once you're up to speed, the book just fall short of one's appetite for power. But a good beginner book overall.

Summary: Excellent Guide
Review: If your starting out in Flash MX or tweaking your novice skills. Your tired of getting lost in the sea of text. Then this book is for you. I love this series, I also happen to own Teach Yourself Visually Photoshop 6, and I've just recently ordered Teach Yourself Visually Dreamweaver MX. These books are not only awesome how to/intruction books these books are also wonderful references books as well.

Summary: Best tutorial for beginners...
Review: Teach Yourself Visually: Flash MX is a book for someone who knows absolutely nothing about Flash MX. By using this book you will be able to get a better understanding and knowledge of the program. It has a lot of cool and colorful images that show you the step by step processes of creating an animation. This book takes you from the beginning to the end of the various procedures, showing you exactly what your animation will look like.
Unlike many of the supposed beginner books, you will get a better enlightenment on this very difficult program. By using Teach Yourself Visually: Flash MX, Flash will almost seem easy. This book is better than any teacher in a classroom because it will allow you to work with the program on your own. This is a total self help book. You will almost be an expert at the basic functions of the program.
But be clear this is a book for beginners only. If you want to go more in depth on the capabilities of Flash MX, you must get a more advanced book.

Summary: Sumptious graphical layout but elementary content
Review: This book is exquisitely illustrated. The top half of each page contains an graphical illustration to kill for, while the bottom half covers the Flash lesson. The colours and layout are very appealing and it is an enjoyable book to thumb through. However, lest the artwork overpower your judgement, it is still an elementary book which largely follows the lesson layout that comes with Flash MX. So if you feel comfortable with the in-built Flash MX lessons and tutorials, this book won't bring a whole lot more to the table. Not a coffee table book by any means, but 'power' users are likely to cast it aside quickly.

Review: This book is perfect for beginners who are just starting out. You will learn Flash MX through step-by-step visual instructions. The book is excellently organized and has perfect chapters as you move on. By the end you will grasp all the great things you can do in Flash MX. It is an excellent way to jump in to ActionScript. Every lesson has a screenshot of Flash MX and show clear steps. So, get this book and see what this book can do for you.
