Summary: Need to learn HTML, look no more this is the book for you
Review: I bought this book knowing what I was going to get myself into, not knowing one bit of HTML. Except that it was used for the internet and I needed to know it to make a site. So I opened this booked and read front to back. This book helped me out so much, it made everything so easy to understand and now I am working for a web design firm making professional websites. All cause of this book. This is a great book for people [w]ho have no idea how to work HTML or for pro's to use as a reference.

Summary: This book has EVERYTHING you need to get started in HTML!
Review: I can highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in designing a web page, but has been scared off by having to learn HTML.

The author writes with a light, humorous style, and never overloads you with information. As you go through this book, you will quickly learn how to prepare a simple page, then will learn how to add graphics, links, sounds, forms, etc. to it.

The book comes with a CD that features several helpful programs, and dozens of pieces of clip art that you can use on your site.

Will this book make you a high-speed Java programmer? Definitely not, but that is not its goal.

If you want to learn how to put together a web page, and want to read an easy-to-follow book, complete with step-by-step instructions, that does not talk down to you for being a novice, this is it!

This book was worth every penny I paid for it!

Summary: Best HTML book for beginner
Review: I decided to buy this book when browsing it for a couple of chapters. I ever used Netscape Composer to create my webpage without knowing much about the basic of HTML. It worked quite well but not as good as I wanted. When I read this book, I know a lot about the basic and concept of HTML. It really helped me in creating webpages. I recommend it for any novice who wants to learn about HTML.You can learn some more from the author's website.

Summary: Unbelievably easy and great looking web pages
Review: I got this book and found that it was easily understood even for those (like me) who haven't got an inkling of how to create a web page. Our results: our webpages look great and are easily understood by all who visit them; they make sense, and keep you from getting lost! Paul McFedries did a great job of wittily writing this book He makes it fun to read and makes it easy to learn the art of webpage construction. I highly recommend it. I chuckled all the way through it and painlessly learned a lot!

Summary: Follow the directions and you've made a website!
Review: I had never dreamed I would be able to create a website myself, let alone WANT to create a website myself. However, as a Personal and Executive Coach, I realized I would have to change my tune. I read at least one other book on this topic that was so full of jargon I was lost by page 10. Then I got this book. Within 2 days I was writing my own HTML code. This book is written so simply and plainly that if you follow the directions (I didn't even look at the included interactive CD) you are sure to be able to create a website. The chapters flow in a logical fashion and build on each other, yet are so easy to read, that it is simple to flip back and forth if you forget what an abbreviation or code stands for. In short, this book enabled me to singlehandedly build my website, and I wholeheartedly endorse it.

Summary: Best book for the Idiot, and the Not So Idiot
Review: I have a few books on html and designing web pages, including one by Laura Lemay. But I would have to say that The Complete Idiot's Guide to Creating an HTML Web Page is the easiest to follow, beginners or advanced users. The author, Paul McFedries, writes in a way we can all understand and makes reading about html fun (a feat in itself). If you want to design your own web pages, this is *the* book to own.

Summary: An excellent web page creation book for beginners.
Review: I have been learning alot about HTML lately, and this book is one of my favorites. It explained HTML in a clear and amusing manner. I skipped around from chapter to chapter to find the anwsers I needed for a particular need at the moment. I also liked the contents of the CD ROM, (this is very important to me---I am still a newbie, and don't always know which software is best for me---having someone else pick it out, and put it on a CD is very nice!)

Summary: great book for beginning to intermediate web page design
Review: I have been using this series of books since version one! I find them simple, clearly laid out and helpful. You can have your first web page up in a matter of hours using the book. I have read it start to finish without falling asleep (how many computer books can you say that about?) With the addition of some ecommerce content in version 5 it is even better than prior versions. I still keep a version on every desk I work at for a reference on basic html coding.

Summary: Learn HTML? Sure, but do not read past chapter 16.
Review: I knew a little HTML and so I bought this book to teach me a lot more than I know; it did just that. It even talked about the internet and how webpages communicate with the internet. You can actualy skip all that if you want just HTML.

This book will teach you the basics of HTML and you will be more than satisfied if that is your aim.

What I really didn't like about this book was that the author wasted about five chapters (starting from 16) at the end of the book disregarding HTML. He talked about internet resources and HTML editors. Boy, he REALLY got into the editors, which defeated the purpose of the book. If we want to know about HTML editors, we would get HTML editor books, not an HTML book such as this one. I got the feeling they paid him to talk about their editors.

Anyhow, I feel he could have used those five wasted chapters on refining his readers' HTML skills.
