Summary: a decaying audience
Review: OpenVMS is dying a slow death. Strictly a replacement market at best. That is, you can expect that most users of VMS have too much invested in code or applications that are tied to it, to migrate. So Miller's book is a little dispiriting. He says early on in it that some 10 million people are still using OpenVMS. But that is a small fraction of those in unix/linux or Microsoft machines. The book is a little defensive about this ghetto that OpenVMS users are trapped in.

So consider the book only if you really have to get started as a VMS sysadmin. Do you truly want to know this material?

Pity about this. I used VMS when it was at its peak in 1987. But luckily migrated to unix.
