Summary: A few issues, but in generl, this is fantastic
Review: I also had a similar problem with the DVD being glued into the book. I was able to remove it with a tiny amount of damage - the DVD image got a little scratched. No big deal, and the DVD works fine, but it *is* disappointing. My flip book came out of the package without any issues though.

This really *is* an incredible experience, though, and I highly recommend it. If you love experimetnal format books, this is especially for you.

The biggest issue I have with this is the navigation of the DVD; it is broken into foru sections: commercials, Idents, Music Videos and Animation. Navigation between individual pieces within each category doesnt seem to be possible, which is puzzling.

Summary: Didn't inspire or excite me too much.
Review: I had been holding out buying this book for awhile due to the price and then someone bought it for me for Christmas. Yes, the packaging is unique and creative. Yes, there are lots of examples of motion graphics on the DVD. But overall, it just didn't get me excited or inspired which is why I wanted this book in the first place. The book itself is actually a little hard to read due to the awkward way you have to hold it. The little flip-book just seems like a useless gimmick. My DVD was not glued in like the other reviewers of this book, and came out easily.

But in the end, I didn't find anything special about the book or DVD and probably won't watch or read it again which disappoints me.

Summary: Must Buy
Review: I had no problems at all with the packaging. DVD and flip book both easy to get out and use.

If you do motion graphics of any kind, this book is a must-buy. Inspiring, beautiful work. The DVD contains many of the animations as well. May be the best motion graphics book of all-time up to this point.

Summary: the cult of package design
Review: okay, so the dvd was a *tad* hard to get out, but it did get out unharmed eventually. once you get past this 'obstacle' though, the rest of the packaging is really cool.

the book present itself as a suitcase of sorts with all these 'stickers' stuck to the front. the cover is a hologram/lenticular graphic which means depending on which angle you view the cover from, you'll see different stickers. the flip book fits snugly into your 'suitcase' as a set of shirts and pants. while pretty novel, is still nevertheless fun to flip though and see segments of the various animations contained on the dvd (except for a McFetridge one which wasn't - baaad!).

the dvd is mastered a bit weirdly though. you can't actually navgiate through all the items individually - only by sections which was mildly annoying. the content however is pretty consistent (even though i wish it was in PAL instead of bleedy/fuzzy NTSC - sorry NTSC people!) which is more than i can say for another motion graphics/animation book i got at the same time (flips animation 7)

the book itself is great, even if it was a bit hard to read when stuck to the heavy cover. if you're easy amused though, you be prepared to forgive these little 'sins' and just enjoy a all round pretty solid book & dvd!

Summary: Form follows function forgotten!
Review: The book is packed full of interesting imagery and inspiring vector graphics, however, it is so poorly designed, you'll be lucky to enjoy it to the full potential. It includes a DVD and a flip book in addition to the main book. In my copy, the dvd was glued into the cover, making it very difficult to remove. Once I finally DID pry it out I had to scrape glue off of the disc. Poor design.
The flip book is literally WEDGED into the cover and so far has been completely impossible to remove without destroying both the smaller book and its larger home. VERY poor design.
The cover of the whole book is a reflective material that is glued onto a thinner paper, Upon opening the book for the first time, the reflective material began to peel away from the base paper, leaving unsightly air bubbles and glue remains visible under the cover. It's a mess! I'm so disappointed with the design of this book it's hard to enjoy its contents.
I am hoping that my copy is a fluke and a non-defective copy will replace it, however I fear it is just bad from the start.
Approach with caution.

Summary: The best motion graphcis book of the year
Review: The book packaging design was awesome and it carries full and rich of content that i never seen before. lovely!

Summary: Excellent
Review: The fact that the DVD contains Virgin Airlines "safety" video on it is alone worth the price of admission (or purchase, as the case may be...) Additionally, though, the book offers a very nice overview of motion graphics, complete with a separate flip book for added amusement. The graphics are inspiring for anyone looking to stimulate their creative juices and present something new and interesting to their client.
Using the aforementioned Virgin Air safety video as an example, this is a brilliant example of what can be achieved in pushing the envelope while still making the relevant and important information easily understandable to the end consumer.
Also, regarding the DVD, I had no problems removing it. Perhaps there are two versions of this book/set out there?

Summary: Hmmm.....O.K.
Review: Well, I stay in INDIA and i bought this book through a book dealer who charged me 10$ extra than the price @ AMAZON. The book is GOOD nothing more nothing less. But is amazingly attractive. Flipbook is USELESS. packaging is simply AMAZING but THE DVD BEING STUCK IS *BAD* u can get it out albeit a few scratches. OVERALL JUST ABOUT OK.
