Summary: Buy this.
Review: Don't usually write reviews. Buy this book if you work with NG. It kicks a@$. 'Nuff said.

Summary: Exceptionally well written
Review: Excellent coverage, well written, every topic I looked for was covered. The authors obviously know this material.

Summary: Excellent Resource
Review: Great book- excellent book on Next Generation. I have a couple of Check Point books on my shelf- this one is the one I find myself referring to time and time again... If you're looking for good books on this same sort of stuff, pick up the Nokia book by the same publisher- I just got my copy yesterday and so far it's excellent. These two books are a must have for any person working with Check Point products...

Summary: Excellent Reference- Can use for exam as well
Review: I bought this to use as a reference and to supplement my training for the NG exam- I just returned from taking my exam and although this book is not a study guide by name, it does cover the majority of information you need to know for the CCSA and CCSE NG exams, and it covers the information really well. I personally tend to throw away my study guides when I'm done with them as they tend to cover the material needed to pass the exam and no more- this book is a reference book, and covers the material needed for the exam and more. A keeper!

Summary: Good resource for CCSA NG Wannabes
Review: I like this book because it is easy to read and serves as a good resource for CCSA NG wannabes.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not quite enough
Review: I should have read the back cover a bit more completely, that way I would have understood what was not included and so perhaps not been as non-plussed.

The installation examples used are based on an eval setup, not real life (distributed). In fact, the first few chapters barely deviate from the Quick Start manual that comes with the Checkpoint Install CD (including screen-shots). No mention of how to properly install/configure such items as Floodgate, UserAuthority, Real Time Monitoring or other modules that are a part of NG. No real help on understanding how to setup and administer mutiple sites, including what modules need to be installed in what location to achieve desired results. SecurePlatform installation is completely ignored.

I will say that there are some nice tips and pieces of info, but if I wanted 100 pages of info on "Spoofing: Attacks on Trusted Identity", I would most likely buy a something not sold as a Checkpoint Administration book.

On the plus side, the coverage on policies seemed more complete than what you got for free on the Install CD.

Summary: Great resource for new Firewall-1 administrators
Review: I went through a lot of online resources and check point official documentation in implementing the firewall. But i was confused a lot. After buying this book, it solved all my problems. I have gone through half of the book and it is great. Easy to understand and covers all the topics step by step.

Summary: You won't need additional help
Review: I'm in charge of several firewall-1 (NG). Because of this I got 5 books on this matter. Well, believe me, is like as I only had just one. This one !
In fact all the needed information is not only thoughtfully covered but besides it is well and coherently explained and correlated with the surrounding issues.
If you add up the information scattered in the other books, you'll find the same information contained in this book, only in a lot more hard to handle, diffuse and even contradictory. Firewall-1?. . . with the only help of this book you are done.

Summary: Great book for NG
Review: I've been waiting for a good NG book, and I was very glad to see this book come out. There's great stuff you can't find anywhere else, and the end of chapter reviews with FAQs are really helfpul. You can also use it to study for the exam, because it covers just about everything that's on it, and you can also get free exam questions from the book's Web site.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Comprehensive, easy to read, lots of little "bonuses"
Review: I've worked with the Check Point product for a number of years now, and we are just about to implement NG at work. I am very familiar with a variety of books that dealt with older versions
of Check Point(many of them excellent), but this book is head and shoulders above anything I've read before. I've never seen a book that covers so much, so well. Although they have it presented as an Admin. Handbook, anyone studying for the CCSA/CCSE would do well to take a look at this--if i had to describe this book in one word it would be "THOROUGH".
