Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I thought this book would of been a good investment because I wanted to try a new publisher to the Cisco World. This book was disappointing, the authors did not seem to have any writing experience and the organization of this book was confusing. Oh sure it had errors, all books do but they seemed a bit to obvious so that was disappointing because basic concepts should be second nature by all CCIE candidates at this point. To bad the authors are not CCIE's or they would of know this.

Rating: Summary: Good general coverage but not CCIE material Review: I took the CCIE written this afternoon after reading this book cover to cover. I had taken about 200 pages of notes (front and back) from both this book and the CCIE McGraw Hill book. I also have near 1000 pages of notes from the CCNP and CCDP testing curriculum that I completed a month ago. This book alone WILL NOT provide the necessary information to pass this exam. It is a general overview of the topics that can be covered. The Cisco Press books, which I have read, cover to cover will still not cover all the holes but you will have a good chance of passing. I made the grade but I personally like a little more room in my scores. The 350-001 is not an in depth test like the ACRC exam. You realize this as soon as you start reading this book. It's a more broad coverage of networking. Yes, there is a confidentiality agreement in place so that's about all I can say. The volume of material that can be covered is very wide. Prepare for the worst and be prepared to take it a few times if necessary. There are MANY errors and contradictions in this book. I would say roughly there are about 20+ errors, big errors.... MAJOR ERRORS... For a general overview this book is fine. For the CCIE written, no way. Read the McGraw Hill CCIE study Guide cover to cover. Read the Cisco Press ACRC book cover to cover. They are both on Amazon. If you can crack walnuts single-handed from writing an inch of notes you may be ready. None of these questions are really hard. You just need to be exposed to the topics before sitting in front of the terminal. For others who say this book is the best thing since the demise of VINES I would lend caution. I've been there and done that several time. It's not going to happen. Pulsar48@webbox.com
Rating: Summary: Very decent book Review: I used this book to assist me in my studies for the 350-001 exam. And I did pass. As others have stated this test is not like other Cisco tests. This test is a test on the your understanding of networking principles and theories. Anyway this book is good at what it is intended for. Inside the 1st chapter it says that this book is not intended to be used as your sole source for the exam study. This is true. It is GREAT at reviewing the concepts necessary to pass this exam. I did email the authors and publishing company asking where the errata was located. No response. There are a few errors in this book, which you will notice right away if you understand the technologies...

Rating: Summary: Another Disappointment Review: I was at first heartened to see a newcomer to the Cisco Certification publishing arena so I immediately purchased this book. However I concerned when I realized all the authors it had and I was unimpressed when I started reading it. The 'voice' of the book is inconsistent from chapter to chapter so I never knew what to expect. That is *not* a feeling I want when preparing for a such an important like the CCIE test. I could deal with these issues however the technical inaccuracies remind me of the Giles CCIE Book from McGraw-Hill. If you can't get Proxy ARP correct..... I doubt everything else.
Rating: Summary: Great book for trivia, but not the single source answer... Review: I'd put this on my CCIE reading list as a good collection of trivia, but you'll need other books in the wings to back you up. Even with the breadth of topics covered, there were details I haven't found in my other readings. There are some errors, and some of the subjects aren't covered well (like BGP), but it was still a good read. It's worth the price...

Rating: Summary: Not a bad book..!! Review: I've been studying for the Written for about a week now, and have basically just been using the material out of this book. I took the exam 2 days ago and missed it by 6 points. After I got back from the exam I jotted down nearly 80% of the questions I had on the exam and started probing the book for the answers. Most of them I'm happy to say are in this book. I've read the other reviews and agree that this book alone probably won't be enough, but with experience and this book, I think it can be done. There are errors in the book, but I've had a hard time finding any books these days that don't have errors!! The author's tell you in the beginning of the book that this book should not be used alone for passing the written exam, so for those of you bashing it for not being a 1 stop shop, the author agrees! Use this book, along with other study material like Giles's book and you should be good. The written test is the toughest test I've taken to date, and I am a CCNP and took the FRS exam which I believe to be much easier than the written. Good Luck..!!
