Summary: Not worth the money
Review: To be perfectly honest, I haven't found my way through the entire book. In fact, I havent found my way through chapter 1. So why the bad review?

This book is written so poorly that you cannot even get past chapter 1. The author neglects to tell you information that you need to know. For example, the book starts out having you build a quiz inside of a movie script. At the end of the chapter, they tell you, "ok, now try what you've just built". Meanwhile they completely neglect to tell you that you need to drop the movieclip into the original scene. Additionally they tell you to add a button to the end that should advance the Quizee to the next round, but they assume -since you just created a button-- that you now know how to do it. The problem being, is that the button needs to take the Quizee from one movie clip to another, which they havent explained how to do.

In short, I find that these authors fail at giving the reader ALL the information that they need. having failed on the first chapter, I dont even want to continue furhter into the book because I'm pretty sure that I wont be able to find my way around due to the authors lack of explicit details. With a subject like coding, Im pretty sure Im going to need explicits.

Another thing worth noting is that the book does not come with a companion cd. So if you cant get the chapter exactly right, you wont be able to follow along for the rest of the book.

--A note to the authors--
Had you taken the time to level set me, I might have a different opinion. This book is confused on whether its teaching basic flash or advance actionscripting with XML. I know flash. I bought this book because I wanted more. In return you forced me to read through a chapter working off flash basics and you weren't detailed enough to get me throught the chapter successfully. Had you provided a companion CD, I could of decided to skip the first chapter and work off of your examples.
