Overall, a great book to start you out with MSDE/SQL Server. There isn't much here that is specific to MSDE, and rightly so, MSDE and SQL Server are supposed to be the same thing.

In several places, the text refers to lessons that you learned from other chapters which are not actually addressed. In other words, it tells you to go to Chapter 7 to read more, but there's nothing there.

I'd recommend this book to a person who wants an overview of the capabilities of MSDE. It won't serve as your only reference though.
