Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A good book for CCIE write test
Review: It cover all details knowledge of network/Protocols.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not what I would expect out of a study guide
Review: The first edition was heavily knocked for mistakes, so I bought this hoping for improvement. There were still quite a few mistakes I saw, especially in chapters 2 & 3; but I've bought other Cisco books with mistakes - this one has more than I owuld want, but that's not one of my main 2 reasons for the bad review.

Reason #1: in some of the chapters, the material is disorganized. Points are repeated, but without learning impact, because it looks like several contributors writing about the same topic, with those chunks piled one after the other instead of organized and edited into something that flows. I especially found this disappointing in chapters 2 & 3, although there were other chapters (like the DLSw) that were written better.

Reason # 2: the questions have answers, many of which are wrong in my opinion, but NO EXPLANATIONS!, which I cannot forgive in a study guide.

I didn't rate this a "1" although it was borderline, because you can get some good info in some areas IF you are prepared to spot & weed out the incorrect info. Personally, I am now planning on spending more time reading Halabi (Internet Routing Architectures), Doyle (TCP/IP routing), and Caslow (Bridges, switches & routers).

Summary: A comprehensive look at preparing for the CCIE Exam
Review: This book appears to have it all. The chapters are very comprehensive from the basics of internetworking right through to the questions that may appear on the exam.

The book also covers material that I have been looking for such as CCIE Blue and Voice Over IP. It's all here.

The CD-ROM and Quizzer are very helpful and when I find myself missing questions, I am going back and brushing-up on the material I missed.

Summary: Too bad
Review: This book contains too many errors and misleading statements.
Just check page 376.
The excises following each chapter might be good for kids only.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Where are you going?
Review: This book is a good resource to assist in your studies. It lacks in some areas and dives way to deep into others. It's not a balanced attack that we all want to get the CCIE. I believe the Caslow book plus Cisco's Routing TCP/IP combined are the best 1..2..punch.

Summary: HORRIBLE BOOK
Review: This has to be the absolute worst book that I have ever read. I have read about 20 or so Cisco books in the past year and a half, and I must say that this is the worst. Within the first 10 pages of chapter 2, the author states the exact same thing 3 different times. There is no organization to this book. I have to admit that this is a very technical book, but it doesn't break it down for you. Stay with Cisco Press and Syngress, they are about the best out there.

Summary: What a disappoinment!
Review: What a disappointment... I thought being a second edition of this book, at least I would not see that many typos... I was wrong... This book is very dry, points are repeated over and over again for no reason. There is very little substance here. Also, I am not sure if this book will really help anyone to pass the CCIE written. It seems that the only purpose this book has is to confuse the reader. If you are looking for a Cisco book the caliber of Colton, T.Thomas, Caslow, Doyle, stay away from this one...

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good material but still needs work.
Review: Which certification has under 3,000 members? Which certification do many consider the hardest to get? Which certification is now covered completely in one book giving you the best chance? CCIE and the All-In-One guide is $80.00 well spent.

In the 1,000 pages the author covers topics like Data Link Layer, Mac Layer Issues, 802 standards, LLC Layer issues, Bridging, NetBIOS, Appletalk, Novell, TCP/IP, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, Data Link Switching, ATM, Wan and Wan protocols.

Extensive coverage of TCP/IP is most impressive, probably the best I have ever read or seen. Figures, tables, diagrams, actual router display code, exam questions, pictures and so much mores is included completely updated a revised work.

Also included is a CD-ROM with actual router configurations for your use and review. Over 250 practice questions in both the standard and adaptive formats. While the price may seem a little high, you really can't afford to pass this one up.
