Rating: Summary: Good base for a DB worker Review: Database design has taken so many leaps since this book was written, but the concepts you'll find in this book are still very sound. As a beginning data modeler you would gain a lot from these pages.

Rating: Summary: Exactly what I was looking for Review: Even though it's 10 years old, it's a great book. The book explains everything regarding relational DB design in a step by step, thorough, and pratical manner. It reads very well and is not bogged down with theory. The sections describing logical modeling make Booch, Rumbaugh and Jacobsen (the three amigos) look like they were behind the times when they came out with their stuff regarding OOD. I can't believe this book is as old as it is.
Rating: Summary: Good. Telling step by step how to model and how to design. Review: First book i have read, which give "the way" how to make a relational model and then how to design a relational database, step by step. Starting from data gathering over application area (user view). Ending to design processes. Lots of examples. I liked the way the whole process is described.

Rating: Summary: Nothing new here - much better books available Review: I adopted this as the text for graduate MIS courses in database design/logical data modeling almost 10 years ago. Still the best working reference on relational databases from logical design through physical issues on indexes, tuning, etc. The only reference book I recommend to anyone needing to understand relational database design. M.C. Kettelhut, Ph.D.

Rating: Summary: My thanks to a wonderful audience of readers! Review: I am always excited to meet readers or to read comments on Candy's and my book. I am working on a more detailed publication on the concepts, benefits, and methodology for capturing and automating business rules....a nice complement to The Handbook of Relational Database Design (I hope!)
Rating: Summary: Great book on RDBMS Review: I purchased this book because it was a mandatory reference in database course. This contains lots of fundamental concepts of relational database. It is a well-organized book starting from LDM rules then to RDD rules with tons of practical examples. The authors does a very good job in explaining and clarifying all the essences, even a trivial point is made clear. This is a must-have for all of you who have to deal with relational database.
Rating: Summary: Great reference book Review: I teach MSAccess for business professionals who sometime need more information on relational databases. I often refer this book to my students so that they can get a clearer picture of what relational databases are all about.
