Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent book for beginners
Review: My mother is computer illiterate. Sure she knows how to type in Word, but to do anything more than that (such as formatting text), she's clueless. Thats why when we went to the store to find a book for her easy to understand. I went though book after book and finally came upon this one. I had a few criteria for a book: 1) the pictures had to be in full color, 2) the book had to start at the very VERY beginning (such as finding and starting excel) and 3) the book had to baby step through excel. This book has everything for the TRUE beginner. All the pictures are in color and explain every step, so there isn't any confusion as to how you get from one point to another. Each lesson builds on the lesson before it, so there is continuity. When I said the book had to baby step through it, this book does just that- It starts off with the introductory opening excel though the start menu to a more advanced using pivottables and macros (There are even things I didn't know, like how to turn text into speech!) The words are in plain english, so anyone can understand it. Overall, this is a great book for the novice and also for a self-proclaimed expert.
