Rating: Summary: Great for the new geek!! Review: I just picked up Leo's new book. I'm a huge fan of him in general so I knew I would enjoy his book. I didn't go through the book like I was supposed to, I just read the entire thing. I am a huge geek so I didn't learn tons from the book. But Leo didn't write this book for people like me. He wrote it for the average Joe who checks their email and chats. THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR THEM. Tips abound in this book. Pluse you get the insite and whit of Leo and we have all known and grown to love. If you are an Alpageek and want to learn a lot from this book it may not be for you but if you love to tweak and tinker and you are the average PC user then GO WITH IT!!

Rating: Summary: Leo Laporte makes "personal confusers" less confusing! Review: I've built a few machines and thought I knew quite a bit about computers (at least Windows boxes,) but Leo taught me stuff I didn't know. The book is thoroughly researched, presents sound solutions to computer problems, dispenses great advice. Plus, it's written with humor that is uniquely Laportean. Simply put, Leo makes learning fun! My copy is already dog-eared from all the times I've read it, and I can unequivocally state that if you own a PC and/or a Mac, that you MUST own this book! It's aimed at beginners, but more experienced geeks will undoubtedly enjoy it as well. And you might learn a thing or two to boot. I know I did! Thank you, St. Leo of the Blessed Gigahertz Processor!
Rating: Summary: Love Leo And Love The Book Review: If you don't know who Leo LaPorte is then let me enlighten you. Leo is the host of a cable program called "The Screen Savers". He and his co-host, Patrick Norton, spend an hour and a half each weekday on TechTV simplifying and de-mystifying the personal computer. Leo has taken this one step further and written this wonderful book in which a beginner or "super-geek" can learn some interesting tips and tricks not only about the PC but about the Mac as well. Leo has chosen to write the book in Almanac format so that the reader can open the book each day and learn something new. Leo takes the complicated and makes it simple. The tips range from tweeking task bar settings to modifying the registry, something that can put fear into the hearts of even the most geeky among us. But Leo explains it all in simple english and makes you feel that you can DO IT! Throughout the book Leo's sense of humor is evident and that makes reading the book fun and interesting. I highly recommend this book. I have it sitting on my dining room table and each morning I read a tip. You know the old saying "If you learned something today, then your day is not a waste". Ok maybe that's not an old saying, but it's true!

Rating: Summary: INTERESTING Review: It is a good book with many tid-bits that I will use. I only wish he would publish an book that would be Windows, Mac or Linux, etc specific. I am using Windows 98 and will never use the MacTips or info on Linux or OS X...... Anyway, I am happy with my purchase, and try not to miss any of the Screen Savers or Call for Help shows on TECH TV. I am humbled at their knowledge.....
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: It's fun to open it every day (for that day) and take 5 min to learn something new.
Rating: Summary: Great book for anybody interested in computers Review: Leo Laporte does a great job each night hosting a show called the Screen Savers, on Tech TV. Now he has also done a great job writing a book. Poor Leo's Almanac is basically a calendar, with something useful written for each day. There could be a windows tip, a technology quiz, a mac tip, or just about everything. There is also handy reminders on backing up your data (something I need to do a lot more of). Leo writes in a very understandable way. Even though I think this book would be best for the newbie/novice computer user, anybody could really benefit from the information. I've ordered a copy to give to a family member that is just getting started in computers, with this book anybody can become a "geek."
