Rating: Summary: Excellent Value but Greatly Abbreviated Review: The publisher makes no pretense that this is an exhaustive treatment of the material covered by the CCIE exam, but potential buyers should be aware that the material is indeed minimalist: 1. no mention is made of the TCP/IP reference model, the four layer alternative to the seven layer OSI reference model; 2. the section on Show and Debug commands simply states that CCIE candidates will likely be familiar with the commands; 3. the section on password recovery contains only a URL reference to the Cisco site; and 4. the section on BGP and IS-IS are only three and four pages long, respectively. Still, I recommend these materials. They adhere closely to the revised CCIE written test (modified in late 2002). The cover to a limited extent all new materials within QoS and VoIP. Old materials (like Appletalk) that you no longer need are omited. What is there seems to be accurate and well written. You're better off with this (using it as a starting point) than with a traditional book written to the old test. If this cost $70 I'd have a big problem, but for the price it's a great value.
