Rating: Summary: A dead-end place to start. Review: It takes about 30mins to go through the examples in the book. There's not enough information with the examples (and the book has only about 8 examples)... and the links to additional information and online examples seem to all be broken (leading to dead ends). This is very frustrating. You'll do better to just look up a few good DHTML web pages rather than spend money on this book. I don't write reviews often, just when the book is extremely good or extremely bad. This one is extremely bad.

Rating: Summary: Great Cross-Browser Development Resource Review: Jeff Rule has addressed the issues that many professionals nowadays encounter, DEVELOPING a cross-browser website that maintains the look and feel as well as the functionality using DHTML. I found this book to be an excellent resource and the code included in the text to be very helpful. Good Job Jeff, I look forward to more books from you.
Rating: Summary: A Story of Love and War Review: Once involved in World War I, Lieutenant Frederic Henry's fate lies on the verge of being doomed while carrying out his duty with the Italian ambulance corps on the Italian front. As an ambulance driver, he soon faces the inevitable outcomes of the brutal war as he gets wounded. Fortunately, his injury leads him to his sudden love for Catherine Barkley, an English nurse. Their love is clearly a response to the troubles and horrors of the war and the world. As Henry's love for Catherine grows, his disillusionment with the war increases as he struggles to free himself from the war in order to be with Catherine. When together at last, Catherine and Henry flee the country and live in a small, peaceful town, where everything seems to be going their way - or so they thought. Many times the novel foreshadows the doom that eventually comes to the lovers. To my surprise, Catherine and Henry's genuine love disappears. In his ending, Hemingway proves that love, like anything else in this world, cannot last. A Farewell to Arms is certainly one of Hemingway's greatest works. Through his powerful writing and ample use of details, Hemingway created a world that captured life as it was during World War I. From the detailed description of the artillery bombardment to the corrupt violence of the Italian retreat, the novel does well to emphasize the devastation war has brought on everyone involved. His unique style of writing and descriptive use makes this book as interesting as it is to read. I highly recommend it to anyone interested!
Rating: Summary: This is definetly a good book. Review: One thing I liked about this book is that it introduced me to many concepts in HTML and interactive webpages that I did not previously know. This book is easy to read, and easy to follow. This is a great book for intermediate web developers. This book really got me thinking about cool ideas to make my webpages more interactive and more exciting. This book does do a good job of providing explanations on coding for Netscape, as much as you can do that. I was dissapointed that many of the URL demos listed in the book are no longer working URL's. Some topics didn't go into as much detail as I would have liked. This book doesn't make a great reference book, but then I suppose it's not supposed to be. This is overall a great book, and I recommend it for anyone who wants to add more spice to their webpages
Rating: Summary: Decent intro, but lacking coverage Review: Rule's book is a great introduction to -doing- DHTML. He has lots of stuff to get you started; this is a learn-by-example book. Unfortunately I found that the examples were alternately superficial or not fully explained. His so-called pull down menu is a click pop up , and he does things like present "how to" for text mouse-overs in Netscape without much explanation. This book will get you secure in your ability to do things like graphics swaps and animations, but doesn't get you into much depth. Very easy to read though... I read half of the book in an afternoon. Spend an evening reading this book in the bookstore and then buy something like _Dynamic HTML: The Definitive Reference_ (O'Reilly; Goodman). Rating: Summary: good reading for bit advanced programmers Review: sir; i will be very glad to recieve information about dynamic Html. Eng.man rash. thank you Rating: Summary: Dynamic Html Review: sir; i will be very glad to recieve information about dynamic Html. Eng.man rash. thank you Rating: Summary: missing examples on web site Review: the book comes with no companion cd-rom. one has to go to the web site for working examples of the code and to copy and paste rather than typing out code. however, several examples are no longer on the web site. the links to them are there but this is what i get from them: "The website or webpage you were attempting to access does not exist on our servers..." i'm quite upset about this and would give the book no stars, but since it's still a good intro to dhtml, i'll give it 2. i don't think it's worth buying until the site is fixed or a cd is included so one doesn't have to rely on the availability of the material on the web site. Rating: Summary: good reading for bit advanced programmers Review: the book conttains a lot of information useful for a bit advanced dhtml programming - but surely this is not the one for beginners.take the example of chapter 3 on css - it starts with how to show/hide style sheet and the compatibility issues between IE & NS , without explaining what a CSS actually is ...
