Rating: Summary: Best Book on Web-based Application Framework Review: This book has 3 parts. 1st part is devoted to the basics: HTTP server, Servlets, etc. 2nd part is devoted to developing a servlet based application framework. 3rd part is devoted to exercises, taking reader through development of applications using their framework. This book is worth its weight in gold and has considerably informed my thinking on how to do servlet based applications. This book is for any one wanting to discover how to architect servlet based applications that are extendable and scalable, not just write simple servlets.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Resource Review: This is a book of suprising range, and for its broad range, of suprising depth. Very substantive, it does not simply re-hash api docs; it deals in depth with the architectural issues which are precisely what it is so difficult to find useful guidance on. At the same time, this is a very accessible and self contained book, with excellent coverage of basics before proceeding into the real issues we all have to deal with. And it does not suffer from the shelf-space-hogging bloat that so many of its peers give in to. Professional, concise, accessible, substantive. If you're serious about server side programming, then you'll find this book to be a valuable and lasting addition to your library.
