Summary: looking for a better textbook
Review: I teach web design and HTML; right now I'm teaching a DW class with this (inherited) textbook and I'm looking for something else. While the step-by-step instructions are ok, the coding and design practices recommended by the book are totally deprecated and very out-of-date. Layout tables but no CSS-positioning? Frames? Image maps for navigation? Yow. The book also barely mentions web standards. Especially considering the high cost of this book, you should seek out something else. I'd look for Lynda Weinman or Jeffrey Zeldman. Even Macromedia's site has *much* better tutorials.
