Rating: Summary: Seeking Quick solutions, GO AWAY.. Review: I've purchased and used the Windows 95, Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5 Resource kits to perform deployments across a LAN. The Office 2000 resource kit is an excellent resource that you'll just keep referring back to! There is so much to learn when deploying and customizing O2K, this book does a good of putting all the information together into a single resource. There are a few errors in the book, specifically some of the O2K system policies and the Terminal Server instructions for running the profile wizard on a per user basis. But hey, most of the O2K utilities work like their suppose to - a REAL surprise for a Microsoft product! This book does an excellent job of telling you what you need to know to get the job done. It also does well at comparing and contrasting different methods for customizing settings in O2K. I'd also recommend that you visit the Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit site for updates on utilities and more tips and tricks. Save time and frustration and buy this book!
Rating: Summary: A "must have" for deploying O2K across a network Review: I've purchased and used the Windows 95, Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5 Resource kits to perform deployments across a LAN. Rating: Summary: A must throw in the garbage, an awful piece of work Review: Incomplete, incoherent, inacurate, unimaginably unhelpful, sloppy, disorganized, unfocused, unclear, vague, childish, and an overall mistake. Buy only with someone else's money.
Rating: Summary: A 5 and a half star book-the best there ever was or will be Review: Indepthly breathtaking, tear clear, sharp as a dagger, to the point, precise as a surgeon, masterpiece of transending thought - overall, the wing beneath your wing.
Rating: Summary: Nearly 100% useless Review: There is absolutely no coherent outline of how to use this product in this book. One is reminded over and over about all the wonderful advantages of using the Resource Kit, but there is no explanation!
Rating: Summary: NO technical data at all Review: This book is terrible. It is one big office 2000 advertisement. It only brags about the features of office and not how to implement them on my systems. It is very easy to locate the sections I am interested in but there is no detail or technical information.
Rating: Summary: Seeking Quick solutions, GO AWAY.. Review: This book offers some good information and especially, if you are a power user or an administrater. But, if u need quick solutions or like to seek answer for specific problems...this book would be as good as OFFICE HELP (may be with few exceptions, really few)!
Rating: Summary: Good Tool If You Already Know Most Of The Answers Review: This is a good tool to have around. It's definitely not light reading. If you already know a good deal about the topic you are interested in, this book helps clarify the individual information. I use it as a resource when I am working on problems. In that way, it is more of a reference book for me. If you support Office 2000, this should be part of your library.
Rating: Summary: Invaluable Review: Unfortunately, the reviewers who wrote negative reviews did not know who this book was meant for. Its meant for administrators who are involved in the implementation and deployment of Microsoft Office 2000. Therefore, its not really intended as a resource for troubleshooting but rather a tool to help in the planning, design, and deployment of the product throughout the enterprise.
Rating: Summary: Resource Kit ? I don't think so... Review: Unlike previous MSPress Books entitled "Resource Kit", this book fails to follow suit in a big way. A more appropriate title would be "Microsoft Office 2000 Roll Out Kit". The book contains nearly zero information on how to deal with "situations". On the other hand, the book should have 5 stars if used as a Roll Out tool. If you are looking for tech support, find another selection. If you must force feed an install to the enterprise user base, then this is the place to start.
