Rating: Summary: Good Certification Guide for exams 512 & 513 Review: An excellent book which explains everything in simple terms. I would recommend this book as the primary reading material, but strongly advise those interested in passing exam 513 to do the Fastpath CBT which is available for free from IBM. I passed exams 512 and 513 by reading this book and doing the Fastpath CBT. One area where I found that this book did not have sufficient advanced information was on Indexes.

Rating: Summary: Great DB2 Certification source Review: I found this book very helpful for filling in the gaps with Baklarz. I bought both books, downloaded the Fastpath CBT (free from IBM) and then passed 513. If you are interested in getting DB2 certification (IBM is offering free vouchers), I recommend both books for 512 and 513. The CD also has a good sample quiz.
Rating: Summary: Best book right now for DB2 UDB Admin Review: I realize no book can be perfect but this one is a gem. I use it daily for DB2 UDB DBA work and its quite detailed and covers lots on DB2 UDB DBA tasks. Few decent books have been written on DB2 UDB so this one is quite useful. I hope he writes a good one for v8.1.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: Read this about 3 times and realized that some critical information were missing out. I passed my 512 without any sweat and struggling on 513 with the help of this book. Thus, i gave it 4 stars. The information and questions in this book are way too easy for 513, so don't count on those questions. Consider them as warm up and getting your engine to run.My other help: DB2 Unversal Database V6.1 rating [*****] DB2 Fundamental Certification rating [*****] EQ
Rating: Summary: Best book right now for DB2 UDB Admin Review: The author is excellent in explaining technical information concerning the DB2 product. However, as with all good reviews, the printed material did have some noticeable defects concerning the examples: P. 187 EMP_ID name not in separate columns. P. 198 Columns misalign question 8, review P. 200 Columns misalign question 15, review P. 219 'veiw' misspelled P. 248 Select example using E.DEPTNO did not exist in the example, also the select statement should be a left instead of right outer join to bring back the result set in the example. More to follow.... If you need a proof reader for DB2 material, check with me.

Rating: Summary: DB2 All In One Exam Guide Review: They should have never released this book with the CD-ROM that does not work. The publishers were aware that the CD-ROM was full of bugs and their developers are scrambling to correct it. I am extremely dissapointed..
Rating: Summary: DB2 Administration Review: This is an in depth book that covers all the options when refering to SQL, and DB2 commands. It also covers all the topics in a comprehensive manner. I have read the DB2 for dummies and the DB2 Universal Database from IBM, and the All in One DB2 Administration completely outclasses them. However the test enginge cd promises hundreds of questions and fails to deliever. The Practice test and the "real" test are word for word the same...so a big disappointment in this regard. If you are buying a book to learn the material and ALL the options then this is the book to buy in preparing for the IBM DB2 513 certification. For the 512 I would use this book to study and get the DB2 fundamentals certification for Dummies book for the test engine (it has around 200 + questions). If you want a Book on performance tuning etc, there are other books out there that will cover this topic in depth much better.
Rating: Summary: The other reviewers should have bought the'Dummies' book Review: This is by far the best book I've every used on the subject. I use the book daily as a reference at the job. The book is well laid out. The materials covered are well presented, and talk to the topics at hand in great depth. This is very useful when you need to understand why somethings works. I had no problems with installing and using the materials on the CD. Additionally, the questions are printable as well. So, even if you can't seem to figure out how to get the on-line stuff to work, there is hardcopy. I found that the hardcopy was much more effective studying for the certification exam than the on-line format, because I could read the explanations for the answers as well. The hardcopy was also faster to study from, and could be used without a computer...;*)...
