Rating: 4 stars
Summary: good beginning
Review: Whatever one thinks of Microsoft, Access represents the de facto standard for simple relational databases amongst Windows users. In contrast with the equivalent Dummies / Idiots books, this guide to Access, penned by Perspection - a Californian training firm - is great for actually using whilst sitting in front of the computer. The sections on Macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) don't actually provide any Macro or VBA code, but at least show how to enter and run it, and how to get help. It's very sketchy in places, (e.g., section on charts) although perhaps not as much as the similarly priced Access 2000 Made Simple (Butterworths, UK). Access 2000 At A Glance will help to get one's feet wet - other books being needed to wet ankles, knees, etc!
