Rating: Summary: It is the BOOK! Review: This is the most expensive book that I ever bought but it is worth the money. Nevertheless, I would not recommend this book for Java beginners (buy Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel). The example are quite sufficient and very easy to follow. It contains good examples and its code are well explained. The coverage of this book towards Server Side programming is perfect! The only downside is the printing; I think it is too cluttered. I thank the authors for your hard effort in compiling this great book.
Rating: Summary: the best book on J2EE..... Review: as of 11.30.99. covers alot of material very well; the coverage on servlets and jsp was very good. the coverage on ejb was a little thin; i'd recommend the O'Reilly EJB book to round out your EJB knowledge. this book is well worth the $$. buy it.
Rating: Summary: Very wide coverage of Java Server side topics Review: I found this book to be very helpful with loads of examples! I especially liked the coverage of XML parsing.
Rating: Summary: Excellent overview Review: Excellent overview of java server side programing. I would have liked to see little bit more on JSP. Actually I am yet to find a book on just JSP. In any case this book is worth the money !
Rating: Summary: Excellent book to get started on server-side programming. Review: This books gives you a good overview of the different Java technologies on the server-side. Learn all the basics and buzz words of java technology. Get an advanced book if you want to master any of them.
Rating: Summary: Good Book, too abroad though... Review: I have just bought this book and by reading the first chapters it seems to me that it's an overwhelmming amount of information. If you want to find yourself on JAVA Server Programming it will be useful but be careful not to loose the focus.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Java book I've ever had Review: If you want to know about Java technology from experts, you should have this book. The only problem with this book that it is huge and heavy. I'd prefer to have 2 books instead of 1, but I don't think it's so important.
Rating: Summary: Good one for overview Review: This is as far as it can get right now. But, they tried to cover all the topics and hence this overview of all the topics. Ofcourse the examples are very handy!!
Rating: Summary: Great well-rounded book! Review: This book is great as an introduction to the different Java technologies available for website development, like JSP, Servlets, EJB, etc. Also covers XML and describes how all these fit together. It's well written with excellent examples.
Rating: Summary: So far this is as good as it gets Review: I will admit I am a rookie Java programmer but I always go beyond the level I am currently on. Even being a rookie I study this book and read sections several times. This gives me an advantage over other programmers who do not push themselves beyond their confort level. I do not understand everything I read but I read it over and over and it finally sticks. Thanks for introducing me to a level beyond where I am currently at! Please, please keep up the good writing.
