Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: This is the best book on Swing that I have seen. It explains the concepts behind each JFC widget and provides useful, simple examples. These are followed by more expert-type variations. If you buy one book on Swing/JFC, this is my recommendation.
Rating: Summary: The Best on Swings Review: This book is the best book on Swings that I have come across that provides solutions to issues and problems that a Swings GUI developer faces while developing real world applications.
Rating: Summary: Great book. I found it very helpful. Review: This book is very well written. I am glad that I read it as I learned a lot from it. It is a book that a Java develooer has to have.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: It covers all the important things. And it's easy to read and understand
Rating: Summary: It is a great book. Review: I learned a lot from this book.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I worked on a GUI application where applied a lot of info that was in this book. For me the coverage of the Table and Tree Models was the most useful. I cant remember any other book that was as practical for what I was doing.
Rating: Summary: Excellent. This is the book to buy to understand SWING. Review: This book is for the serious software developer. It takes an indepth view of the Swing components, and explains the why and how these classes work. Code examples are clear and usable. This book has plenty of detail without getting bogged down in useless rhetoric. I bought 4 other books on Java's Swing classes. This is the best by far.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: The writing is clear and concise and provides enough detail to be really useful. The book is a model of good technical writing. It is nicely bound and printed on good quality paper: a pleasure to read and handle. I look forward to the next book due in August 1999.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book on Swing Review: Great book. Great effort by the author
Rating: Summary: Incredible Swing Coverage! The Swing Bible. Review: Of all the Java books I have, the only other ones that are as useful are the others in the Core Java series. As a professional programmer expected to keep up on the latest and greatest technology, it's very difficult to do so without books like this. The web is great, but it can't compare to a good, authoritative book on a subject, and this book is THE authority on Swing. Considering the time that it came out, Topley did an incredible job of explaining Swing, especially since it can safely be assumed that HE had no books to pull it all together for him. Now if someone would just come out with a book as good as this on the Java 2D API and Java/XML, I would be one happy camper.
