Summary: Too wordy and lacks example
Review: Well like i said in the title, its too wordy and it lacks alot of examples. However, his explainations are quite clear and how Susan (a novice with no programming knowledge) keeps asking the author questions we would ask him is alright. If only his book had a touch of colour, less talking and more examples, this book would be a must for newbies. I'm only 15 and i learnt a great deal from this book but i decided i would learn Visual Basic first

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Too much details in kids book instructions
Review: Well this book is a really good book for starters, if you ever did not have a chance too learn about very basics about computers and programming. But it is certainly not for experienced, even some experienced programmers. I just bought the book, and read the first 100 pages in seconds. I read the reviews before I bought this book, and I just trusted all those 5 star reviews. However I now think I did not choose a book that is apropriate for me. This book goes like a feature writer's feature with a famous star. All conversations, not a worthy program example. I say if you have some knowledge of c++ don't buy this book, because it may disappoint you. However if you don't have any knowledge buy this one. I don't want to mess up the rating of the book so I'll give a 5 star while I am pretending myself as a begiiner of the language. However if I were to rate this book, I would give 3 stars.

Summary: For beginners like me
Review: When I first picked up the book searching through the bookstore, I was surprised in the way they approached learning how to program. Steve approaches programming from theory and common sense. I think this is so important becuase without understanding how a computer thinks and works, you wont fully understand how to program. I am currently on the second chapter and trust me, I am going to have to re-read it again. But I can fully say that already I am understanding concepts that I wouldn't understand in other books. I am glad it is not a dry, copy this code, paste, and complie into a complier book.
