Rating: Summary: Real Traffic Secrets from a Search Engine Review: All I do is add Content, Reciprocal Text Links, and Webrings. I submit my site to One Search engine at a time so I can hand-pick the right category and Read the Rules! This gives me a Top 10 Ranking almost every time, and allows my site to more than double its traffic every month. I use one-on-one Email Only, as it is the most effective form of communication, and it keeps the spam complaints down to Zero. 3-4 banners total for a 30+ page site, and 3 or 4 button ads, and that's it! Ok, 2 ads-on-exit once/day/visitor. This works for me, why not try it for 30 days for free? And - Content is defined as something Visitors can use from start to end, at No Cost! Ok, it's not exactly free, but it's kind of like this. Enjoy - atopqualitysite.com

Rating: Summary: You don't need to buy this book. Review: All the information in this book is available for free out on the internet. What's more, the info on the web is way more in-depth and up-to-date than this book. The only way this book would be useful is if you are a TOTAL beginner webmaster, and even then there are better books out there.
Rating: Summary: A History Book Review: Despite the low price, this book is too much behind Internet time. 70% of the links and Web site information is no longer valid. Any other books on Web promotion would be better. The rave reviews posted here are bogus. I would like to hear more honest comments.
Rating: Summary: Gives You A Great Guide To Promoting Your Site Review: Found some helpful information on where to go to promote my web site. Puts you on the right track and state of mind to getting your site known to the community. Obviously a good candidate for additional updated editions
Rating: Summary: I read the whole book through and felt it was very good. Review: I bought sixteen books on Internet Marketing and Web Design in the last four months, and this is the only one I couldn't finish. The style is plodding and dull, and the content offers nothing unique. If you want a book on promoting your Web site, buy Greg Helmstetter's book, Increasing Hits & Selling More on Your Web Site instead.
Rating: Summary: Promoting my new site. Review: I found Getting Hits most helpful. As someone who is building and promoting his own website from the ground up, I've found this book to be a great resource because it focuses on the basics. The information is clearly stated in terms anyone can understand. A very useful book!
Rating: Summary: Completely Obsolete Review: I read this book at a bookstore and couldn't believe that it's still being sold. Just look at the publication date. The book was probably written in 1995 and the Internet was a very different place back then. The only section that is still valid is a brief few pages about the search engine. However, much better information is available at SearchEngineWatch.
Rating: Summary: This is the Web business book you need Review: I've spent far too many hours paging through the numerous Web-related books looking for useful information. The stack at Barnes and Noble gives me a headache. When I found Sellers's book and discovered that there was more inside than just the standard Brief History of the Internet, and How to Create a Web Page chapters, I was hooked. This book tells you _exactly_ how to get your site on the search engines (and high on their results lists), other tactics to get your site seen, and what to expect when you venture into the realm of online advertising. Getting Hits is the game-winning home run resource for everyone working on the Web
Rating: Summary: Anyone serious about their web presence needs Getting Hits. Review: This friendly informative book includes EVERYTHING you need to know, if you are serious about promoting your site. It is timely, up to date, filled with useful resources. In a very short time, we have taken our 500+ page website from 200 hits/day to 700 hits/day using techniques and contacts in this book. With more and more sites coming on line everyday, you need better ways of cutting through the clutter to let people know about your site - GETTING HITS is a guaranteed boost you can use right now!Larry Darnell, Webmaster http://www.heartmath.org
