Review: So, why did I write this book? I wrote the first MVS primer in the early '90's to help people who had never worked on a large system to grasp the differences. MVS was a mystery to many who had never used other than a personal computer. As the environment changed, this basic primer evolved into the second edition for OS/390 and now to z/OS in the third edition. The goal has never changed. The book focuses on the overview of the culture and technology and capabilities of IBM's premier operating system. The evolution of the Internet and the need to define 24/7 technologies shaped the operating system into what it is today. To my knowledge, this is the only such primer on this exciting technology. If you're preparing for a place in such an environment, this book will help you grasp the history, the features, and the capabilities of z/OS in a corporate structure.
