Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent/Fantastic Book
Review: This book is really well written and organized. Prior to reading this book, I always thought of COM as a magic. However, after reading 450 pages, I no longer think of COM as magic :-). Rather, I now fully understand the concepts behind it. COM is NOT dead yet. In order to fully understand COM+ and .NET remoting and component framework, one needs to fully understand what COM did (and is doing) for us.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent
Review: This is one of the finest technical books I have ever read. The approach, organization, and detail are excellent. When I buy a C# book, it will be Troelsen's, because this book was so good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: many necessary steps missed
Review: Though the titile is called "step by step", it is not. Many important steps to compile a COM server or COM client are missed. The result is that you will find your sample project can not be compiled and you will be a dead meat.

Overall, this book is nice but be prepared to consult Google or MSDN frequently.
