Rating: Summary: Not for Informix Administrators Review: I bought this book hoping it would help me administer Informix. It is primarily geared more toward the person looking to learn SQL syntax and apply it to Informix, with a side-bar focus to the DB Admin. The book is not bad for what it covers, I just thought (hoped) it would be geared more to the DB Admin.
Rating: Summary: Good starting point. Review: I have to confess that I found out a lot of this information the hard way. I played with existing programs and databases. What make this book so good is that it tells me what it is that I have been doing and what I missed. I do have to weed out what I can use as I am using SE not online. The CD is almost exclusive online. There is lots of visuals and working code and tips to get you off the ground. I am using this book to take an Access database and replace with Informix and integrate with some existing store bought manufacturing applications.
Rating: Summary: Basic and Excellent ! Review: This book covers the most important subjects and certainly gives to the beginner a good guide to do the job. The author was very inspired and has a good sense of humor, so enjoy it !

Rating: Summary: A fine Informix Resource Review: This book is a fine resource for anyone who is just learning Informix database. It provides a good overview on all the concepts that related to Informix. It can be used as a desktop reference when dealing with Informix issues. The book is very in-depth, but does not provide all the details on all subjects. The book title is a good indication of this.
