Summary: Good overview; a bit dated ('96); little for programmers
Review: If you're looking for a guide to low-level sound or video programming, this is not the book for you. It's a strong overview of some programs and libraries out there, and introduces some very basic programming samples. The info is getting a little bit dated (published Sep 1996). OK all around.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good overview, a bit dated - therefore 4 rather than 5
Review: Very high-level overview, not in-depth, but as such the book is very good. Interestingly, even though it's rather concise, it contains a substantial programming section, which is a great for a beginner. As most O'Reilly books it's well produced -- illustration, index, etc. Unfortunately it came out in '96, so it's becoming dated (threfore I gave it a 4 rather than a 5, which it fully deserved -- in '96.) Still it's OK, especially if you can get it for less than the original price.

Summary: This is the greatest!
Review: Well, of course I would think that this is the greatest book because my son wrote it. Just browsing through my free copy make me glow with pride. Now as for the contents, it sure looks impressive. There is a wonderful amount of technical information I can tell you!!!
