Rating: Summary: Great ASP book Review: I had no ASP experience before I ordered this book and it has been great. The database chapters are good, and there are plenty of code examples to try.
Rating: Summary: Very easy to read Review: I needed to get a leg up on ASP fast, and this book got me through my first web project. It's not everything you'll need, but for server-side scripting on IIS, this is what you'll find on the desk of many developers. There's a new edition out for 3.0, so if you're working on IIS5 get that one.
Rating: Summary: Not so good sequel Review: I read this book after reading Beginning ASP cover to cover. For those others of you that have, fair warning: There is alot of repetitiion in the first few hundred pages, albeit with sometimes better scope (sometimes though, the 1st one has stuff that's NOT in here!).The book is not so smooth because it is plagued by typos and also casual switching from JavaScript to VBScript based on the chapter author's whim I suppose. Speaking of that, the fact that there are 8 authors in this puppy means that the book does not flow well at times, with certain chapters repeating others and also some authros being much better that others. Now on the positive side, there was a lot of material covered in this book, also with good examples and expert advice. I must say though, ASP Unleashed is the real gem if you want to be on your way to ASP Jedihood.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book for ASP Review: I was new to ASP when I bought this book and have used this book almost daily. I went throught the first 8-9 chapters in order and built a solid base. From that point on, the book has served as an invaluable resource. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. By the way, I had never coded in VBScript prior to picking this book up and had no experience with JavaScript.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Let me be honest, I hate programming, I don't like anything to do with the web, and the internet, but hey, it's good money right? and besides it's nice when you can add 'programming experience' to your resume. So I bought this book, at first it doesn't look too anything, but when I began reading I realized that the reason I hated it so much had to do with the fact that I didn't understand anything there, this books got me started and now I am an advanced programmer. I would like to recommend any book from Wrox publishing, it's all good!
Rating: Summary: Excellent for Professional Programmer Review: My thoughs are that this book is not well organized and assumes that you know everything about ASP before you even start reading the book.
Rating: Summary: Indespensible ASP Reference Review: This book has carried me now for two years. I don't need some end all be all bible - MSDN keeps updates on specific issues I have. This is a great ASP reference for the "working" programmer who just needs to see an example of "how it's done". Chalked full of sample code that WORKS!!!

Rating: Summary: Comprehensive and substantial coverage of ASP! Review: This is a great book for anyone wanting to learn "everything you need to know" about ASP. Caveat: Knowledge of VBScript (or VB itself) and SQL are pre-requisites! Be warned also that the writers waste no time in taking you straight into ASP territory and it may prove helpful to read through the on-line documentation on ASP in the MSDN library beforehand. I found it helpful to work through most of the examples in the book: It's a pity that Wrox provided no CD (with the book) - I had to code by hand to test them (the examples). Four months later, it is paying off big time! Most of the content of the web pages I build are database-driven. ASP is indeed a powerful technology which, when combined with other technologies such as ADO and XML, makes most things on the web possible!
