Rating: Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed this book... Review: Even though it contains much more material than the 70-081 exam covers, it was nice to see every thing in one package. The only lapse in the book was diaster recovery (specifically, when/how to restore mailboxes and servers). These were the only questions that I could not answer from the book, so I only made a 900/1000.Good luck on your exams too!
Rating: Summary: Very good preparation for the exam! Review: I just passed the certification exam and owe a lot to this book. I took the Microsoft class and Microsoft curriculum is usually hard to follow. This Sybex book provides a better flow of topics and also a better discussion of Exchange concepts. Review questions at the end of each chapter definitely help to reinforce the material. The accompanying CD is pretty good. Only complaint with the practice exams is the lack of explanation on why answers are correct or incorrect (like Transcender does). Overall, a great tool to help you pass the exam! That's what it's all about, isn't it?
Rating: Summary: Buy the book! Review: I just took this exam a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by how many questions came straight out of this book word for word! Microsoft must have asked Cybex for their questions to add to their pool. I bet 38 or so of the 50 questions I got came from this book. It happens to also be a well written and easy to understand book as well, I was able to find the answers for everything I looked for. If you want to pass in a week or two, buy this book, study hard and memorize these questions.Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Exhange Server 5.5, Made easy with this Sybex book Review: I managed to pass the 70-081 Exam 1st time after Using this book along with the Sybex Exam Notes for Exchange Server 5.5 with only ten days worth of study. Having never used Exchange until starting this book I found the text easy to follow, with enough depth and coverage on the key factors not only of Exchange, but also the exam objectives. One Complaint, however, is the lack of explanations to the answers given in the book; the inclusion of them would have awarded the book 5 stars. As with all MCSE Exams, Just reading the book cover to cover is not enough, access to a small network (3-4 computers) is essential, and that way the helpful exercises can be employed to improve you chances of success. NOTE: Based on the 2nd Edition of this book, I can only imagine how much better the 3rd edition would be
Rating: Summary: The ONLY study guide you'll need! Review: I read this book from cover to cover, took the practice exams on the CD provided by this book and I passed the exam with a 920 out of 1000 points! A practice lab of 2 to 3 PCs would be helpful but not necessary. Do not waste your money on other study materials, THIS IS ALL YOU NEED! If you want to learn and *understand* Exchange Server 5.5, then this is the book for you. If all you want to do is pass the exam, then this is the book for you too. Good luck!
Rating: Summary: I never used Exchange 5.5 and I passed with this book! Review: If you read this book from front to back you will pass test 70-081. I think the Sybex books are an outstanding resource for ANY MCSE test. I just bought the Migration book (test 70-222) and so far so good... Get this book and pass. It's that easy...
Rating: Summary: A thick, but precise book. Minor errors on test CD. Review: Learned me all i needed to know to pass the exam on the first try (scored 800, 640 needed to pass). Has minor two faults though: First, there is no explanation of the wrong answers in the tests, second, the questions on the CD-rom is the same as in the book and several of them is repeated in the same test which makes the final score useless. The test program has the option to save the test which is nice because the three tests on the CD has over 120 questions each - but there is no option restore, strange. But that is still minor errors. I would recommend this book to everyone who want's not only to pass the test, but also want's to learn Exchange Server 5.5.
Rating: Summary: Buy the book! Review: Passed the exam two weeks ago with a 800 score. I read the book from cover to cover, and have to say is quite compreensive. The author is no mark minasi when it comes to putting the words together. but i think he knows the topic very well though. Like the other reviewers said, the it lacks a chapter on disaster recovery, which is something you come across very often when working on a day to day basis with exchange like I do. overall, well done James Chellis.
Rating: Summary: Cheating Review: Read this book if you want to pass with flying colors. I have been working with Exchange5.5 for over two years now and I still failed this exam after only reading the Exam Cram. I went back and read this book and was amazed to score a 920. I couldn't help but laugh at the fact the one out of three questions on the exam (70-081) were in the book. This book is very comprehensive and well researched.
Rating: Summary: good preparation for the exam and real life support Review: The book civers the exam objectives and gives a good overview of Exchange 5.5. It includes practical information on managing the Exchange enviroment. I am working with Exchange and I found the book very useful both for the exam and the support.
