You'll learn to recognize specific Office elements in your code, create custom dialog boxes, and take advantage of logical structures like If ... Then statements and For ... Next loops. You'll find some prewritten macros in Microsoft Office 2000 Secrets (and on the companion CD-ROM). Some are academic, but others automate useful tasks like stripping extra carriage returns and linefeeds out of imported text files, copying a selected block of text to a new file, and inserting the current date as text rather than as a field.
