Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great for people new to UNIX
Review: If you don't know UNIX and want to learn the basics quickly, you will like this one. I knew a little UNIX. I got this book and spent two days on the job going through it, trying out most of the commands as I went.

I understood 98% of what I read, and recently went back to skim the book to remember things I learned but forgot.

The writing is clear. It has about 200 pages and you will learn two or three things on every page, guaranteed. So if you don't know very much about UNIX and would like an easy way to learn at least 400 handy things about UNIX (commands, variations, etc.), I think you will be happy with this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent guide for the novice
Review: This book is an invaluable tool for the novice wishing to learn the fundamentals of Unix. The text is easy to read and understand--not written just for propeller-heads. The layout makes access easy, and there are many good examples to follow and work through. Knowing virtually nothing about Unix beforehand, I found this book to be most helpful
