Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best book on the Subject
Review: An absolutely excellent book, a must for anybody seriously studying the interaction of electromagnetic fields with molecules. Very clearly written, totally self-contained, a rare treausure

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Clearest Treatment of non-Relativistic QED
Review: This relatively short book is the clearest introduction to non-Relativistic Quantum Electrodynamics available, at a graduate to professional level. It has a very complete discussion of quantization of the EM field in the Coulomb (non relativistic) gauge.

It covers one-photon and two-photon emission and scattering phenomena. The chapter on the dispersion energy (formerly called van der Waals force) is very clear and complete.

The only topic missing is the quantization of the EM field in a dispersive medium, a field that is still subject of active research. I prefer this book to the much more expensive volumes by Cohen-Tannoudji et al.
