Summary: Very Good Book
Review: Easy to understand. Gets to the point! I started learning SolidWorks with this book and I felt confortable enough to move on to more complicated features. Its great when you don't have to cry for help because it is so clearly written! Bravo!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent for migrating AutoCAD users
Review: From the very first chapter, I was impressed. This book teaches one the basics and fundamentals of 3D design using Solid Works. I have experience using AutoCAD since version 2.x (way back...). I have bought a few books on the way. In comparison, the author needs to delve a little further into explaining why certain commands/options are engaged in the featured projects, the way they are, hence the 4 stars.

I realize it is a basic tutorial, however, you will have a lot of readers asking the same question.

Was it worth the money? You bet!

Summary: New User
Review: I am a new user of SolidWorks. I used Pro/E for over 5 years; "This is my problem". I found this book to be an execellent source of information for the major features of the software. Planchard does an outstanding job in presenting and identifing key feature areas in SolidWorks.

The book is very accurate with it's commands. I wish I had a book like this when I was learning Pro/E. The book needs a few more sample examples. Money well spent!

Summary: Finally a Good SolidWorks Book
Review: I have read numerous books on SolidWorks. Most of them were either history books, reference books or just plain junk! This book is definitely laid out for a user. The book presents some real good stuff, (Bottom up /Top down approach). The quality of the binder could be improved.

Summary: Best CAD teaching text I've seen
Review: I've been using this book for a year now to teach SolidWorks and it's the best cad teaching book I've seen. It is very much tuned to my teaching style. The step-by-step approach allows students to work at their own pace and understand what they're doing. I usually start a lesson out and then let them work on their own. I help them when they have problems. As with all tutorials, sometimes the detailed instructions don't work out exactly as the book indicates. This is a problem with all texts and has to do with the changes that are constantly being made to CAD software, so that a text may be out of date before it is printed. Overall, I would rate this book very highly in that regard.

Summary: Good, could be better.
Review: The book was good as a tutorial - it was similar to the Certified Training I received from SolidWorks. Someone could really learn the basics by following the examples. However, it is poor as a reference book because it does not have an index. That makes it difficult, if not impossible, to find answers to questions. Anyone who already knows the fundamentals of SolidWorks would have little use for this book. I would rate it 5 stars's as a tutorial, 1 star as a reference. I am now using SolidWorks 2001, but will not buy the new edition of this book.

Summary: Good book!
Review: The design of the cover is well done. It gives beginners the opportunity to advance smoothly, quikly and with fun! Personnaly, I have learned a lot in this book without crying for help constantly. Once you read it, you can easily continue in more complicated stuff like surfacing. I realy think its a good quality book compare to what's out there, BRAVO!

Summary: A nice tutorial on SolidWorks
Review: This book is a very nice tutorial on SolidWorks. It is very easy to follow, and the content is very concise. After the six projects covered in the text, I am able to use SolidWork 2000 pretty well. To my opinion, this book is a very good for beginners of SolidWork. On the other side, you probably will get disappointed if you want to find advanced stuffs on SolidWorks in this book.
