Summary: Useless
Review: This is by far the worst reference book I own. The index is awful; listings are not intuitive. I've tried to use it on occasion and found the information scant (if I found it at all). The layout leaves much to be desired, and even though I'm sure there is some good information scattered throughout the book, I'm so exhausted by the time I find it in the index that I don't even care to read it! I'm a professional web developer, and I picked up this book a few years ago hoping/assuming it would be a good, QUICK reference book. That wasn't the case. The content is ok, and f you don't use the index much, maybe this could be a decent book for you. I, however, found this book disappointing because of its painfully unorganized index.

Summary: The book of choice to getting started with HTML
Review: This is my first book in HTML - I bought it two years ago and ever since I keep consulting it most regularly.

It covers all parts of modern HTML in readable, organized sections that you can use as reference - or learn HTML directly from them, by reading them one-by-one. It includes everything you want to know at first place, with very good theoretic documentation and understandable practical examples.

It includes some reference to browser-specific issues and cross-browser compatibility, Dynamic HTML, stylesheets and scripting. At the end of the book you can find the exceptional references which all Wrox publications include : concise, practical and error free.

This book is as much up-to-date as possible - the core HTML, as defined by the WWW Consurtium (http://www.w3.org/) has not changed since the book went on publication. The new implementations like CSS2.0, XML and XHTML, browser specific implementations etc. are not directly part of it, and an HTML newbie does not need to learn it all at once.

Concluding, I suggest that this book has to be your starting point in Web development - and an essential reference tool to everyone that does creative work in the Web.

Summary: Great and Quick Reference to HTML
Review: This is not a thick book with everything you want or don't want of HTML. If you want to build or modify your personal web site, or working on a e-commerce site but need some quick reference, or refresh your memory, this is a very handy book to help you to get the things down easier than hold the thick one.

Summary: Expected more of this book...
Review: Well, after buying the Instant Javascript book from Wrox, I was hoping to expect the same type of help from this book. And I do have to say I was a bit dissapointed by it. Apparently, they took too much time explaining and going into worthless subjects, instead of grinding the meat with real world examples, usefull tips and tricks, and hopefully some new light on HTML (something that most of the newer WYSIWYG editors don't already do). So, as I have shown, this is not a book you might want to buy for really advanced proyects, or higher learning. If you're a newbie looking to get an understanding at HTML, then this is a book for you.
